I have NEVER seen a holding defender as bad as tackling as this guy, when they named him Octopus is must have been because his legs seemed to be everywhere except on the ball

Worst 3 performances of the season (Spurs, Liverpool and Stoke) all featured Fernando in CM and MD at CB. I'd get rid of both as soon as possible.

I don't understand how the management don't recognise this. There was no choice but to play MD today but his legs have gone and he knows it. You can see that he knows he is in trouble when he's faced with a one on one or a race to the ball. Gone by end of the season if not before.
Fernando simply isn't good enough and Pellegrini is now so stubborn that he will stand by some of these players when they are clearly not up to it for whatever reason. Bony, Sterling, Fernando, Navas and MD are being carried and are not showing the right quality.
Fundamentally today though, they all lacked the heart that is needed to win games like this one. Not one person showed the desire of premier league winners and we were embarrassed by a good Stoke side. But the fact that Pellegrini was out-thought tactically by Mark Hughes is the most despairing part. I hope this love affair with Pep comes off because with so many sides in the hunt this year we really need to buck our ideas up and get stuck in. The players without the bottle to do that should just leave now.

He's a fucking liability, both goals today down to him, on his arse and out of the game on both occasions - only had to stay on his feet and jockey.
The worst player I've seen in a City shirt since the good old bad old days

Like Bony, he's awful.

He does play better in a midfield 3 though.

so would anyone who is billed as a centre mid. a central 3 in a team that will most likely dominate possession is a gimme, id do alright in a central 3 for City

Been much better this season but needs to be stronger in the tackle. Twice today he committed to tackles and lost out when at a minimum he should have put the attacker on the deck. These two occasions cost us two goals.

I wouldn't play either unless totally necessary but if you're forced into playing both Fernando and MD, you have to adjust your tactics, defend deeper and play on the break.

I agree, just trying to find some positive to him.

I do think Porto are laughing at us for buying him and Mangala.
