Lampards designated player space can't be given to anyone else as he will be using it when he joins. They do have a designated player space available but that would have been the case whether Lampard stayed or left.

We did not sign him on loan in August, we signed him as a free agent until the end of the season with a break clause in January which has now been removed. He is effectively starting his loan as of today. So all those who have been frothing at the mouth from August onwards were doing so over absolutely nothing as he only officially became an NYCFC player today.

No doubt there will be even more hysterical reaction in the mainstream media over today's news but I would like to know how MCFC have benefitted from the arrangement from NYCFC. It has not been some elaborate method of avoiding paying his wages as was suggested by some at the start of the deal - funny how this all seams to have gone quiet isn't it? So what else do they have to complain about? Do they really care so much about NYCFC fans that much?

Its late, and I may have missed something, but I'm not following your post.

If we (City) signed him as a "free agent" for the whole season, with a "break clause in January", which has now been removed, how is his loan to us from NYCFC starting today ?

Well folks, I'm first and foremost a Manchester City fan but I can appreciate how this must feel to you guys and I think it feels all wrong. The only positive spin that I can put on this is that it will not have been done without due regard for the interests of NYCFC. Ergo, there's been a trade and that trade will pay handsomely because Frank Lampard is your player and it would not have happened without your management being persuaded that it would pan out well for your clubs success.
I hope you can all bear the bigger picture in mind like your management team will have and I hope you can appreciate that City fans like me are with you every emotional step of the way because we're family, we're the kind of family where we look after each other and you've done us a massive favour that we'll repay ten fold and with a smile.
