Player topic: Frank Lampard (2014/15)

Re: Frank Lampard

I admit when Lampard signed for us I didnt like it, I thought it would be for shirt sales and if he did play would be too slow and would prevent younger kids getting a game (which is still true however he has helped in games where a kid might not have been able to).
Now though, I think he's fucking great.

Using him wisely IMO right now.

Re: Frank Lampard

I would like to see him in management after he retires. He appears to have all the qualities and experience for the role.

Re: Frank Lampard

Have to say, I still feel slightly ill seeing Lampard in that different shade of blue, but he will always be an absolute legend to us and will receieve the upmost respect everytime he visits the Bridge or indeed every time he plays at home for the opposition. I'm proud to have been part of the away support that visited the Etihad and saw Frank score a painful equaliser only to get the applause he deserves from us. I'd say there are only a handful of clubs across the country that would do the same as us, indeed I've witnessed dozens give their ex players dogs abuse when they appeared for title rivals.

Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and say that it's great to see another set of fans that are showing appreciation for Frank's character, attitude and ability- even at his age. Hope he leads you to a very solid second place :P

Off OT, & without the support of Keano et al & the Bully (of FA Officials) Fergie, Scholes the Ginger Poseur was found out by world class players who treated him like a human traffic cone & his passes were picked off by WC opponents. That's why SGE placed him on the left midfield where he can do less damage. Even there he was a liability!

Doff of you mancunian or parochial hats! & tell me why he wasn't rated by his peers & professional football writers with PFA & FWA Footballer of the Year Awards!

I'm glad you know more about being a great midfielder than Ferguson, Zidane, Xavi, Pogba, Guardiola, Davids, Giggs, Fabregas, Lippi and Socrates.

All Horse manure about the Ginger Poseur aside, the real McCoy is Frank Lampard the Greatest English Midfielder. Mourihno stated that if Chelsea had won the CL before 2012 Lamps would have won the Ballon d'Or in 2005 instead of Ronaldihno. Lamps captained the 2011-12 CL champions.

That's why Gerrard & Lamps are the 2 best English Midfielders for the last 2 decades.

Re: Frank Lampard

Top interview on OS....Very appreciative of fans and club.

I've been working very hard to get back because I was really enjoying playing at the time [I suffered the injury] and that was the bad thing about it."

Following a string of fruitful performances in his first three games for City, which heralded an impressive four goals, the former England star was rewarded with the Player of the Month award for September - a prize he did not anticipate but was delighted to receive.

"It was amazing," he recalled. "I'd sat out the first few games as I was getting my fitness but to come here at make an impact and to get that connection straight away - not just with my teammates but also the club and the fans - meant a lot.

"I've won quite a few honours but that one was special because I didn't expect to get it - so thanks!

"Now, every minute I get is precious and I want to try and show something whether I'm coming off the bench or starting games.

"That's what I was really enjoying - the fact I could come here and offer something a bit different from midfield. I tried to arrive in the box at the right time, I got a few goals and hopefully, when I'm back fit, I'll be doing it again."

Lampard became a fans' favourite within minutes of making his debut. As a result, speculation has started to mount on the possibility of the midfielder extending his stay in Manchester.

Although Lampard admits he is happy at the Etihad Stadium, he remained coy on the subject of what lies ahead.

"All I can say is how much I'm enjoying it at City," he conceded. "I'm contracted here until the end of December and my future will be at New York City at some stage.

"All I can do now is go week by week and play as well as I can when I am playing to bring a good contribution.

"I didn't know what to expect before I came here but the move has opened my eyes to a fantastic club with fantastic people behind-the-scenes and I'm just trying to enjoy every minute.

"It's a great opportunity - not many at 36 get the chance to come and play for a club like City. I love the training, living up here, the people at the club, the staff and the fans.

"When I left Chelsea, I thought I was going to be moving out of the Premier League and that was a different angle. That's all to come still but this is an absolutely brilliant time for me.

"I want to look back on it and say I enjoyed it - but more than that, I want to look back and say I made a bit of a difference in a positive way.

"What I will say is: for every minute I am here, I'll give it everything and we'll see how it goes."

Re: Frank Lampard

The "Fat Frank" tag amuses me. Although I boast a ripped, Adonis-like physique myself, I'm willing to bet he's in vastly better shape than 99% of those who call him fat.

I think we can forego the usual BM requirement in this case, thank you very much!
