Agreed.

Now having seen him regularly at close quarters I have a much better appreciation of his all round game contribution now. He can pick a pass and link up play superbly.

Would have no qualms with City keeping him until the end of NEXT season. He ticks all our boxes. He was a cheap acquisition and he's Britis.... Oh and he can score as well!

His awareness is incredible, knowing what pass to make before the ball arrives at his feet. On a number of occasions it allowed us to get on the front foot and take Bayern by surprise. Something that we severely lacked against CSKA where we let them get 10/11 men back before attacking again.

I hope we can keep him for as long as possible

He and Alonso showed that sometimes you need an old master. Sure it would be suicide to use him every match, but once in a while like last night you can see a true master of his craft at work.
