Well said. its only a matter of time before the us market runs this sport as it does almost all entertainment. The heck with CFG, I bet that with the support shown for NYCFC there would be hundreds of people in the NYC metro area who would drop the 100 million to the league plus whats needed for the team(yes manchester there is that kind of money here) just to say they own it.
20 years from now( hopefully less) there will be no FIFA which is the most corrupt organization around. There will be 1 top league with teams in the US, England Germany, France, Italy and maybe Spain, Mexico and Canada.

It is amusing to read and I am glad we have him because it looks like he will make the difference to this title race, but I can't help feeling a bit uncomfortable with the situation. If this was the other way around I know for fact there would be a similar reaction on this site. Does anyone remember the reaction to Howard Kendal's deflection back to Everton? This is worst than that.

Stop the dramatics !!! Lampard was available on a free.We took advantage of that situation and gave him a short term contract with Manchester City FC,until 2014.We then approached both the FA & PL to sanction an additional 5 month contract.Every other club could have done the same but he chose to come to MCFC after Chelsea basic ally gave him the elbow.
So FL has had a change of heart (for the time being) and wishes to prolong his stay at City.So what ?? Have you never changed your mind over any situations ?
Its about time all this fucking nonsense was put to bed once and for all.If its OK with NYCFC why should we worry.

Calm down! I only said I felt a bit uncomfortable (as I am sure others do as well). As for the Kendall comparison I was comparing how we felt then to how Chelsea fans feel now, maybe I overstated saying it was worst, but having a title on the line does amplify the situation.

Nothing you said is wrong, we have used our financial muscle to manipulate this situation (and I am glad!) but if the shoe was on the other foot I would be annoyed, wouldn't you be?

That's a good post and actually goes to the heart of the matter which is that the US through their jingoism, hates the idea of 'foreign', particularly if that foreign means a European or Middle Eastern business owning a little piece of their fucked up country (which is merely a collection of disparate states that co-exist)......

The reality is that without MCFC and Middle Eastern wealth there would be no NYCFC because the US does not have a pot to piss in let alone the foresight to actually plan and build a new club from nothing

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

Sorry for catching up late but he WASNT on loan to us? NYCFC did not buy him in the summer?

Correct on both counts

He signed a one year contract with MCFC with a break clause ......we took that clause out end of December

If anything I think the City coaching staff should be praised for seeing what Frank could offer. TBH I was dubious about his signing but I am happily eating my words.

I do feel a bit bad for the New York fans but what do they seriously expect Frank to do when he has the chance of silverware in a competitive league? Maybe we could loan them a few players for the MLS kick off? If Sinclair and Nastasic do not leave in January then they could go there as they are unlikely to do anything for the first team this year (I know Sinclair has been on the bench recently but I would be happier with Pozo/Ambrose)
Send them Scott Sinclair instead of Frank Lampard? Go to your room young man and think about what you've just done.

Wow. The boys in the front office need to take a bow. Well played.

So as usual we are playing a blinder and nobody has any idea what we are up to. We get killed in the media but as usual we played by the rules. Sucks for NY fans (of which I will be counting myself in a few months) but it seems it was Frank's call.

Maybe Spain? The league that perennially provides at least two of the top 6 teams in the world might be lucky enough to be considered to join the superpower clubs of the MLS in a world league?

The delusion and arrogance is outstanding.

So is the understanding of economics, seeing as how "100 million plus what is needed for the team" is the equivalent of US $3 bln plus for a world superpower like Real or Barcelona. Get a grip.

I want to finish however with a different complaint.

I have mentioned before about how Man City appear to have found a loophole within FFP by having Lampard bought by the club their owners control (New York FC) and then loaned to Man City.

Mourinho was asked about this and said: “Lampard? They can bring any player from New York FC. They can bring anyone and nobody will stop them. ”

OK, it wasn’t as strong as I would put it, but the man has spoken out again, and that must be applauded. Let’s hope Uefa will note Fifa’s ability to stand up to Barcelona over child trafficking, and will themselves have no difficulty in standing up to Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Crucially, this was not a loan deal but a short-term contract signed as a free agent. It is understood the contract was for the entire season, with a break clause that was agreed would be activated at midnight on 31 December.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/9627215/premier-league-manchester-city-extend-frank-lampards-contract" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... s-contract</a>

His initial short-term contract at the Etihad was due to expire on January 1, but an agreement has now been reached for him to remain with City until May.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-soccer/story/2222505/major-league-soccer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-socc ... gue-soccer</a>—-when-manchester-city-contract-expireslampard-belongs-to-nycfc

Lampard’s presumed signing with the MLS expansion side was announced last July, leading many to conclude that his deal with Manchester City was a loan. Yet when Lampard’s deal with the Citizens was announced in August, the word “loan” was conspicuously absent. The same was true of today’s statement from NYCFC regarding the player’s extension.

An NYCFC source confirmed earlier reports to ESPN FC that Lampard’s current contract is with Man City and not New York. The source added that the former England international’s current deal would see him stay with the Citizens until the end of their current season.

But that’s not the issue, the issue is that you are either purposely mischaracterising this because of some inane idea of rivalry or you honestly are writing about things that you don’t know about. THERE IS NO WAY CITY CAN USE LAMPARD AS AN FFP DODGE. City are paying his wages, nobody paid a transfer fee for him, he is registered by the relevant bodies as a City player.

On most City sites, and indeed most non-Arsenal sites, the general idea of here is that you know your stuff on Arsenal but don’t bother asking about any other club because he is constantly wrong and is more interested in finding the best narrative for an Arsenal fan than the most truthful one. The above is one good example – it would have taken only the smallest of time to read up on something because accusing another professional club of somehow cheating yet you don’t have the integrity in your work to do so. I have no doubt this makes you incredibly popular and beloved by many Arsenal fans and your blog will continue to be successful, you’ll just never be respected as anything but an echo chamber.

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

In this country it has to be an Emergency Loan (max 36 days) or Temporary Transfer between two clubs. Season long, or half season loans are temporary transfers technically and subject to the transfer windows.

It is difficult to know exactly what happened from new quotes as the agencies won't have the details.

It could still be a 'loan' in effect without further information, but I do not see why it matters at all.

You really know Nothing about New York and New York sports Fans if you burn us we will do everything in our power to destroy you. Lampard nuked the bridge he won't be accepted at all.

Sorry if this has been posted already but it's hilarious. They seem to have a ridiculously high opinion of themselves.

It's been confirmed that it's a 12 month contract, the word 'loan' doesn't come into it since NYCFC club have never held his registration.

Playing devil's advocate for a minute, I mentioned this the other day as well, but how do we defend NYCFC announcing his signing and the subsequent U.S. advertising campaign for selling season tickets etc if he never has actually signed for New York?

Can we blame it on the gullibility of New Yorkers? ;)

Besides, we don't have to justify it to anyone. We signed a free agent and have asked him to waive the 6 month breakpoint clause. They'll just get him 2 or 3 months later than expected. They don't play their first game until March 8.
