Sorry if this has been posted already but it's hilarious. They seem to have a ridiculously high opinion of themselves.

Only in America!

They're getting passionate about a club / a team that doesn't even exist yet! It's a badge on a piece of paper, and they are getting all giddy about it.

We're a club with over 100 years of history and support, a club that has represented it's community for over a third of the time that America has existed as a country, we're the champions of England, our owners have set up a team playing in our colours, using our name, and the "Third Rail" group are saying they "reject the idea that NYCFC is in any way secondary to Manchester City" the level of delusion is just absolutely astonishing!

I've browsed their forum and there has been topics about wanting to dress in "Casuals" gear and all going out shopping to buy Brookes Brothers loafers and shirts to wear to the game. It's excruciating.

New York is a fine city, but the fact you have a strong financial services sector and an impressive skyline does not mean you "aren't secondary" to anyone else. Association Football in it's current form was essentially conceived in Manchester 150 years ago. Manchester has got the greatest concentration of professional football clubs anywhere in the world. It's home to two of the biggest clubs in world sport, and home to the current champions of England.

NYCFC have not played a single game of football, and it's quite frankly absurd that it's supporters club is getting national press attention over here. I hope the team goes on to be successful, because it will be of benefit to MCFC, but some jumped up "supporters" coming out and having the temerity to criticise us, or our owners is arrogance and delusion of the highest order.

The world doesn't begin and end in New York. In fact, football managed just fine to become the most popular "entertainment product" in the world for over 100 years with next to no input whatsoever from New York, so supporters of a new club there could do worse than to educate themselves and learn from people who know better than them. Even if our skyline isn't quite as impressive.

Well said. its only a matter of time before the us market runs this sport as it does almost all entertainment. The heck with CFG, I bet that with the support shown for NYCFC there would be hundreds of people in the NYC metro area who would drop the 100 million to the league plus whats needed for the team(yes manchester there is that kind of money here) just to say they own it.
20 years from now( hopefully less) there will be no FIFA which is the most corrupt organization around. There will be 1 top league with teams in the US, England Germany, France, Italy and maybe Spain, Mexico and Canada.

That's a good post and actually goes to the heart of the matter which is that the US through their jingoism, hates the idea of 'foreign', particularly if that foreign means a European or Middle Eastern business owning a little piece of their fucked up country (which is merely a collection of disparate states that co-exist)......

The reality is that without MCFC and Middle Eastern wealth there would be no NYCFC because the US does not have a pot to piss in let alone the foresight to actually plan and build a new club from nothing

Sheik M.has chosen sport in the form of football to do what the Bin Laden family did with Bush.
Converting oil revenue into US assets is a good strategy and using MCFC via CFG and a USA locally based club using the US based partners already good contacts in New York seems a good policy to me.

Look at MCFC, ADUG now has great relationship with the Council and Universities resulting in the none football investments we witness.

This was worth it just to see them spitting their dummies out over this. You can have him when we're done with him. Plebs

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

I've seen an interesting point raised as to whether or not Lampard could join NYCFC straight away, or would he have to wait until the MLS transfer window in July?

Not looked into the rules myself, and its hard to tell with the exact nature of contracts with us and NYCFC up in the air a bit. But could be significant.

No its not, this whole thing and the NYCFC "fans" reaction to it has been one of the funniest things of the season for me. I love that type of cringeworthy humour and there are just buckets full of it on their forum. It's like somebody recreating my own personal version of The Office. I wish Didsbury Dave would sign up there, he'd have a fucking ball with them lot.

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

I do get the stance of some of the nycfc fans to be honest, but that is for Lampard to sort out. The initial press release by them said that he had signed a contract starting on August 1st. That seems to not be the case as he is actually direct with us and he is not allowed to be signed to two clubs at the same time, so there has clearly been some erroneous communications on out part.

Personally, I don't want just us to succeed, I want City Football Group to and I want Mansour to reap the benefits of what he has given. To that end, I can't help but feel it is a bit or a pr blunder that really isn't the best start for nycfc and their drive to get fans attracted to the club.

With a purely city hat on though, it's great news!

I am completely and utterly embarrassed by the behavior of my fellow New Yorkers today. While I understand the frustration I cannot condone their vitriol towards Manchester City. Not all New Yorkers are like the fools you're reading about. Please don't dismiss us all. Some of us are long time supporters and are thrilled to have the City brand here in America.

Cheers and happiest of New Year.

You only have to spend a short amount of time on any football forum to realise that they don't represent the majority of the fans. I'm sure all sensible NYC fans are welcome on bluemoon.

It's been confirmed that it's a 12 month contract, the word 'loan' doesn't come into it since NYCFC club have never held his registration.

Playing devil's advocate for a minute, I mentioned this the other day as well, but how do we defend NYCFC announcing his signing and the subsequent U.S. advertising campaign for selling season tickets etc if he never has actually signed for New York?
Can we blame it on the gullibility of New Yorkers? ;)

Besides, we don't have to justify it to anyone. We signed a free agent and have asked him to waive the 6 month breakpoint clause. They'll just get him 2 or 3 months later than expected. They don't play their first game until March 8.

We do though to an extent. I know there is a lot of apathy towards the MLS and NYCFC in particular on this site (especially from the Brits)...that said, MCFC and NYCFC are on the same team. What is good for us is good for them and vice versa. This is a public relations issue that management needs to address.

Obviously its good news for City but a big black eye for NYCFC and thats a big black eye for OUR owners in a market that is absolutely crucial to the future of the club.

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

I think you'll find a diverse array of opinions on the Lampard matter on the NYCFC forums, just as you do here. If you peel away all the hyperbole and look at the middle ground of reaction, the negative reactions are focused on the handling of information being passed to the fans by NYCFC. If back in July, it was announced by CFG that Lampard had been signed by the Group and would play the remainder of the season with Man City and join NYC after the EPL & Champions campaign, then we wouldn't be in the midst of this public relations mess. It wouldn't be the first time that a Designated Player had joined an MLS side in mid season. What was presented to NYC fans was that Frank was signed by NYCFC when, in fact, he never was. Obviously, no one anticipated that Lampard would perform as he did and have the value to the first team that he has. I think the actual expectation was he'd stay fit by training with the club and maybe make a few appearances from season start through year end.

In the long run, this will blow over and the storm will calm. I think there will be mutual benefits for both clubs and the other clubs under the CFG umbrella. It's just that this is a first impression and it hasn't been a good one.

Very good post. My preference was for Frank to start with NYCFC in March as a health compromise. Clearly I am not going to shed any tears about keeping Frank until our season ends but agree that it has been a communications shambles. If nothing else, I thought CFC would have andover top player lined up to commence the MLS season like Schneider for example!

Most City fans will be delighted that Frank Lampard is staying for the season and that NYCFC fans will be feeling disappointed. Having stated the obvious, I cant help thinking that the clubs will be working to provide a satisfactory solution for NYCFC that provides a lift after the last few days. I am sure discussions are already in place to provide a replacement.

Gerrard would soften their blow.

1) No chance.

2) He's seeing the season out with Liverpool so it would be redundant.

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

Papers (agenda) and other clubs fans using Frank to troll us. He's at the end of his career, pellers only plays him for a few minutes a game. He's still class, but really why the hysteria over him choosing to stay here? He's not tied to any club. I hope NY City is a success. Can't they find a decent replacement to cheer the fans up?

Re: Frank Lampard (staying until end of season confirmed P11

You have to feel that the NYCFC fans do have some reason to be upset after all they were lied to.

There will definitely be additional Designated Player signings to soften the blow. We currently have 1 additional DP spot. The Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and Players Association is up for review and the expectation is that the DP cap will be increased to 4 players. So we could wind up with another 3 marquee players depending on if FL ever suits up for NYC.
