He dilly-dally's a little too much for me and isn't anywhere near direct enough for a player with that pace. Don't get me wrong - I like him and he gives us tremendous balance but he needs to work on his decision making/final ball/shooting. Too often he stops dead and begins to shuffle on the spot like he's panicking and all out of ideas. I was screaming at him to finish that chance when he was put through but instead he was desperately looking for Aguero, took far too long, got too close to Howard and made the angle to shoot (when he finally decided to have a pop) incredibly narrow. Overall he's a great little player and works his socks off and the fact people can pick faults in a player with that quality highlights how far we've come and how high our expectations are now.

Apart from the obvious giving silva the MOTM awards Navas has been up there with him in the past 3 games.

Not for me I'm afraid.
He's benefiting from our left side attack which is offering him more space than in the past but he's not the player some think he is. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad but he's certainly not world class or anywhere near it. A one trick pony with little composure in front of goal. He does work hard which is to his credit but he is not as fast as people make out and plays safe a lot of the time.

I would rather have an out and out creative player or a more defensively minded one.

I rate Nasri much higher than Navas but would prefer a 3 man mid field with inside forwards of Silva on the right and sterling on the left. Leave the wing play to the fullbacks.

But that's just me. Other opinions are available.

The stick he gets, especially from the nobbers in the match day thread is totally out of proportion to his flaws. His end product isn't the best but he still provides plenty of assists. How many times have we seen him play little one two's with the right back or Yaya or Silva and then cut it back into the box for a gilt edged chance. It doesn't always work and sometimes he ends up passing back, infuriating as it can be it means we still keep possession. He stretches defences too and like Sterling his presence usually is enough to draw in defenders and make space for Silva. His work rate is relentless, Milner used to get praise for his non stop running and Navas works just as hard as Milner ever did but a lot faster.

i'm sorry, i still think he isn't quite top grade. He's good and has made a good start to the season but i dont see him making the next level of quality, and i think right wing will be under the microscope next summer.

But surely KDB is nailed on (according to the transfer ITKs) so we have nothing to worry about. He makes an excellent impact player from the bench when the opposition are tired.

well, i tend to stop believing the newspapers until the player has actually pulled on a blue shirt and ran on the pitch for us! Navas is good, dont get me wrong, i just dont think he's got 'it', whatever 'it' may be that you see in some top players

Would a finisher get into the positions that Navas gets because of his outstanding pace ?

Navas seems to be one of those players I sometimes struggle to decipher whether he's done a very decent job or has been wasteful!

His pace is no doubt a threat and his work ethic explains why Pellers loves him in the starting XI. He probably isn't considered a top drawer player, if his final ball was more consistent in picking men out and his finishing improved he probably would have everything you need, unfortunately those two things are integral to a player in his role.

Has linked up well with Sagna this season and we do look a threat down that side and are not as predictable in just attacking down the left.
