Pellegrini: Iheanacho must prove why I trust him so much

Blues fans have become frustrated with the youngster's perceived lack of playing time in recent months but the City boss says he has to do more to justify his selection

"When you're a young player and you're part of such an important squad as Manchester City, you must try to learn every day from others players and when you get a chance to try to make the most of that chance," he told the press.

"I think he's working every day, that's why I know he's improving,
he's just 19 years old, that's why he cannot go straight in.

"He must be very happy and take the option to show why he is in the squad and why I trust so much in him that I didn't bring in another players."

Has he really said all this. Surely not?

I have to say I'm one of the (seeming minority) of blues who still believes in Pellers experience, and if he's not picking Nacho there's a reason for it. I must admit tho that this quote is a bit worrying. Surely if he's good enough, he plays, regardless of his age.

The good ol' if "he is good enough, he plays"excuse lol. Nacho should make the wise choice and push for a loan move until the end of the season, hopefully MP would have returned to Chile by then.

Feel for the guy, he needs and deserves to get game time, not the odd 5 minutes here and there but a minimum of 30 minutes if being used as a sub.

I would be tempted to revert back to 442 for a period and pair him up with Aguero.

Judging by what Pellegrini is saying, Kelechi needs to produce the goods in those 5 minute cameos to justify his "faith" in him. Talk about putting pressure on the poor lad.

I don't think Pellegrini knows what he is saying half the time.

I think it's more a case of keeping certain players in the shop window.

We spent big on Bony a year ago and it's pretty evident to most that he's not a good fit. Unfortunately, dropping him to third choice behind a little known 19 year old will only decrease the fee we will receive for him.

Manuel was asked yesterday by Ian Cheeseman whether we were able to recall Jason from his loan spell, and he said we could, so surely it's a no brainer and therefore why have we not immediately done it? Or maybe the professor knows as much about Jason's loan terms as he does about the champions league group qualifying criteria?

You got a quote of Manuel saying we could recall him? Cheeseman seemed pretty adamant on last edition of Blue Tuesday after speaking to club officials we couldn't as it was a season-long loan...???

I'm not sure Nacho going out on loan is a wise choice. With our main striker having long term injury issues, our back-up striker being pretty naff, puts Nacho as third choice. If he goes out on loan, we would definitely have to buy in another striker, which would only shove Nacho even further down the list.

I don't agree with MP not picking him, I personally feel Nacho is good enough to play second striker, although the post @Tugay One Cup #1376 does make sense.

I hope Nacho gets a run out today, and uses it to make a point that MP can't miss.

Saw something on sky sports news last night, it was a press conference but it was definitely Ian Cheesemans voice asking the question, am I the only only one who heard it? (Been working long hours lately, starting to doubt what I heard, but must have been yesterday's press conference??)
