He hasn't really been amazing but i think hes a good solid defender who will get better with time but i do agree that him competing against crap like managla and mdm (on this seasons form) makes him look better than he is currently. We really do need a top class center back who can play in place of kompany not just with him.

What about the nutmeg where he and Fernandinho let in whoever for a chance, or where he play head keep ups and passed it straight to their fella?
He was solid on the whole but for all the ridiculing of Mangala, Ota has just as many brain farts.
I hope for Harts sake, these two results put some confidence in these twos ability and they come out better for it
I've been critical of him, and not convinced by the holywood tackles and one on ones that seem to have made so many fall in love with him, but tonight he was looking much more a part of a unit at the back. Him Mangala and Sagna looked like they were all playing with cohesion most of the time.

He's our best CB with Kompany out. But he's struggling as Mangala is looking very shaky. He needs a calm partner next to him.
