Players made scapegoats and unfairly treated by fans

The ones I remember most are Edgy, Power and two that don't seem to have been mentioned yet, Clive Wilson and Dave Bennett, yet all top lads, interesting that the latter three had more successful career's away from the club, maybe Edgy would have been better off elsewhere too.

I'll never forget sitting in front of some old bloke in the stadium who hated, HATED, David Silva. Moaned about him all game, said "thank fuck for that" when he got subbed, I don't think he said much about how frustrated he was with him. What can you say sometimes?

Two not mentioned that come to mind. Alex Williams, especially after Luton and Bravo. Although I suppose you could argue that they were not unfairly treated is was due to their performance.

I’m sure people will disagree but I always thought Jesus Navas got far too much grief than he deserved.
It is always a case of what you expect, we paid a lot of money for a very talented footballer only to find he could not kick a ball straight, not a problem do not play him, but we did, so who do you blame? not surprisingly when he left he became a very talented footballer again, just in a different position.

He actually looked scared to death sometimes.
Not from the groans of the crowd but the physicality of the English game.

He'd piss ball it here now though in this new "no contact, snowflake League"

I had a soft spot for Vassell because of his work rate and electric pace.
His finishing was poor (to put it mildly) but he was one of the players I took to in a distinctly mediocre era.
I loved it when he was unveiled in Turkey and was given a superstar welcome.

One of our most productive players in 13/14. When Pellegrini’s limitations came to the fore in the following season, like many others, he looked average. He’s a quality player and the years back at Sevilla proved that again.

He’d pick the ball up go at the full back, think about crossing it then didn’t. Think about playing it inside then didn’t, then dribble back up from where he came and play a nice safe pass back to the full back or centre half.
