Players made scapegoats and unfairly treated by fans

It all depends on what you read, where and who you talk to as to who were the scapegoats, and whether they should have been. Edin was a perfect example.(not trying to reignite old stuff, honestly) To believe some people on here a few years back he was crap and the root of all our problems. I preferred to listen to the reaction in the stadium - I I heard hardly any stick, apart from when the odd groan when one came off his shin.
It does feel a little like Gabby is the new Edin. I prefer to look at how he plays and the stats. Edin was a fantastic striker for his country, Wolfsberg before he came, was great for us and is still knocking them in for Roma as an old man.
It's what defines us as a group of supporters - we can be a miserable bunch of twats - even when things are going great!

Two not mentioned that come to mind. Alex Williams, especially after Luton and Bravo. Although I suppose you could argue that they were not unfairly treated is was due to their performance.
Sad thing is, I was there when Alex made his debut and I don't think I've ever seen a set of fans being so supportive of one player, literally every person I could hear were desperate for him to do well, or at least not fuck up, one of my proudest moments as a fan I'd say.

Edgehill, Dzeko, Kolarov, Gundo and Mahrez.

We have some bitter fans at times, fans who get on the back of a player for no particular reason, yet those same fans have players than can do no wrong.

Back in the day the abuse that Richard Edgehill got was simply disgraceful and totally unacceptable, even more so considering that he was a local kid playing for his club.

When Tony Coton first signed for us, the Andy Dibble fan boys gave him dogs abuse, they could not see the TC was night and day a better keeper that a very average Dibble.
I remember Coton getting loads of abuse to the extent that he stuck two fingers up to the Kippax.

It is always a case of what you expect, we paid a lot of money for a very talented footballer only to find he could not kick a ball straight, not a problem do not play him, but we did, so who do you blame? not surprisingly when he left he became a very talented footballer again, just in a different position.
4 league goals in 123 games. Not great.

Rodney Marsh, and seem to remember Alex Williams getting grief too.
As has been said, we should support all Blue players. I know it was hard to do so with Fowler,McManaman etc., but if they pull on that shirt , they should get our support, no matter if they are ex scouse scum robbing our club.

We have had a few over the years.

Mahrez
Gundogan
Edghill
Ian Bower

who would you say would make out top ten unfairly treated scapegoats as players and why do we always seem to have one?!

I'm not sure about Gundogan, mixed feelings maybe. Mahrez defo gets too much crap off a lot of City fans.

Goater took a lot of stick in the early days.
