Policing in the UK

Will that be enough context to make the stomp lawful?
Possibly not-but it’s not as straightforward as first implied-I do believe there was a real risk that the officers would’ve been over powered and therefore a risk that their firearms would be taken. As I said his choices at the end may not appear appropriate but he had been punched to the head several times. I can understand it. The officer will still be asked to explain himself in court and lose his job. Should he? I’m not sure.

They are not in another country, they are in the UK, and if they had shot them, laid bear on the ground, they’d be up for fucking murder.

Fucking hell, I understand why the red mist fell, and I understand that the people who started this are absolute cunts, but what they did in retaliation is not fucking allowed, and that’s why the suspension and investigation is underway.

Trust me, I know you can’t do that shit, it’s basic rules of engagement.
Don't be ridiculous. I only mention other police forces because these officers had weapons available to them and they chose not to use them. This was obviously correct so they did well in the circumstances, especially as they had to protect themselves and others from their own weapons being taken.

I initially saw their use of force as excessive and disproportionate but that was because there was no context. We now have the context and the police clearly had to use force to deal with a very difficult and violent situation.

There will be questions but if there's doubt and you can only say that in hindsight then there's no case for them to answer because they're human and they did the best they could.

Nope. The Copper shouldn't be booting someone in the head and stamping on it.
Usually I'd say he shouldn't be doing that, but you can't say 4 officers being attacked while doing their job is irrelevant for Gods sake. We ask these people to protect us from cunts like that no right minded jury is going to convict that officer after seeing that. No way should he lose is job either.

Fair enough. Your opinion on this is more valuable than the vigilantes on here.

Guess the lads will be charged fairly quickly and the IOPC investigation might take a bit longer. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out in the communities.

They were very nearly over powered-firearms officers. That is incredibly dangerous.
They weren’t overpowered at that point though, mate. Before, yes, which is why I’d accept any means possible to get them under control.
The boot came after the danger looked to have passed.
