This is not just the auto industry - its every industry. You just cant get stuff. The impact of covid on global supply chains is part of the problem but things are getting to europe and then the extra hassle of moving them on to the UK means that people just don't bother.

There is an oportunity of sorts here and that is to import these things and charge a lot more to the end user to cover the costs of a small specialist operation that has to deal with a load of import/export paperwork.

I would quite like to know why two of the most outspoken Brexiteers have left the forum completely. After five years of sneering, gloating and belittling all the predictions of what would happen, I suppose it's no surprise they've done one now that nearly every prediction is coming true.

Joe is deluding himself. Plenty of people told him and plenty of info was available on line. Joe chose to at best ignore it or not bother at worst dismiss it as Project fear.

They didn't give one single fuck about the negative repurcisions or how badly many would suffer. As long as the vote went leave they were happy.
I maintained from day one that the boring **** who wrote paragraph after paragraph of nonsense was a government shill. I still think that today.

we got the shockingly bad UK January 2021 trade figures at the end of Feb - they were of course all down to Covid and nothing to do with Brexit - however its now April and still no Feb trade figures. The ONS website says they will be out by 13th April......about the time we could expect the March ones........does anybody else think the ONS are hiding something for the Govt?

As the end of the transition period for the UK leaving the EU approaches, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) recognises that this will change how data collection and processing is carried out for our trade data. We are working to ensure that our data reflects only changes in economic trends and not any changes in processing methods. Taking this into consideration, we have made the decision to make some small delays to some of our
publications in 2021, ensuring that we have adequate time to quality assure our estimates.

You don't need the figures to see what is going on. You just need to try and buy something slightly niche / high end. There is no stock. There is plenty of it product about in Europe but the hassle of bringing it through customs is not worth it. Basically any supply line that involves importing a load of stuff to Europe and then distributing round the EU from a base on mainland Europe is now on its arse.

No mention in that article about whether they voted for it but my guess is that the ones being caught out by the 3rd country rules are the Brexiteers who believed the Leave campaign lies about Brexit not affecting their status. I suspect most Remain voters were a little more aware of the potential problems and planned accordingly. The big downside is that the UK will now be flooded with moaning former ex-pats who will put further strain on services they haven't paid into for years. On the plus side there might be some properties in the Med going cheap.

Compared to what could have happened with a no deal or whatever, the final outcome wasn't that bad for people who are permanently living and working outside of their home country (either Brits in the EU or vica versa). The registration process in Germany was relatively painless for me: I now have residency, as does my American wife. The flexibility to come and go as you please was never going to be saved though, that was the whole stupid fucking point of Brexit. I can't believe these people are expressing surprise.

We're thinking about a villa in Spain, should be a good few on the go and buyers market after the last 12 months.

Everybody was given ample time to sort their residencias out here in Spain.
The fact they continued to either ignore the warnings or sat reading British red tops that often gave duff info is on them.
They won’t be missed by and large, many have lived doing cash in hand jobs and contributed nothing to the system.
After everything settles down I think we will find we (in Spain) are much better off without them.
