Possible new stadium - some interesting information

The on-going discussions, even simply regarding the catering, have caused a lot of in-fighting.

If the club do decide to build a new stadium I hope they sort out the catering. The current setup must be costing them a fortune. At the Everton game there was a bloke filming the bar staff on a video camera. I got talking to him and he turned out to be Neil Worchester the catering manager.

I mentioned all the simple solutions like having a proper queuing system, pint pullers, bottle sellers or even having beer tents outside the ground like they have during gigs at COMS.

Basically he said all the current problems were the councils fault and the plan is to move onto cashless tills similar to the ones in Germany. He also said they are trying to get the bottle sellers back and introduce some sort of queuing system. However it will be the summer after next before anything changes because they only have 13 weeks during the close season to change things.

It just doesn't make business sense at the current time
You're right in one sense (although there are no figures yet and any that do come out will be indicative only, plus we don't know the plan) but in 5 years time we could be a very different proposition.

i agree pb build it befor we need it and its too late but i think no matter how successful city are in the next 5/10 years we'll never have the fan base of 100k+

What about building a new stadium, say 80K but playing smaller games with lower anticipated crowds at COMS? Not sure I like that idea but might stop us looking ridiculous.

Can actually see the sense in building a new ground as we can still use COMs as it is and not lose any seats as if we were to extend the ground.

remember we are after encouraging people to support the club and we can't do that if our current attendance is cut due to building work.

This all depends though on planning permission and meeting guidelins (which I am sure our owners would have sorted).

How long would the "best" stadium in europe take to build? 3/4 years? if so i would of thought any decision would be made sooner rather than later!

We have a 250 year lease with the council that I presume we can't just break? Does this mean then that they would get some of our profits from match day? Or perhaps they'll rip up the agreement due to our redevelopment investment with the new east etc? Quite canny, our owners say we want out the deal as were going to build our own stadium, council say why would we agree to that, we say well help rebuild and bring investment into east Manchester!

Thoughts?

Plan B (67-72K) seems most plausible looking at it logically but these guys really do think out of the box so we shouldn´t be surprised when we´re eventually blown away
