Post counts

The posters calling people rags all the time should be warned against it instead of making forum changes that affect everyone because of the actions of a few.During the match and post match it is evident who is here to WUM and it's is right imo that it is picked up on,they only visit when we lose so they stand out and should be challenged

Rag.

I agree.

The opinions that I have posted on numerous City-related forums over the years would probably put me in the top 50 in the post count. Despite this, by some people's criteria, I might be a rag because I have just joined this forum. Those reasons given by the people who want to keep the post count, were precisely the reasons that I haven't joined this one before.

Forums will always attract idiots from other teams, but it stupidity to think that because I have just joined, my views count any less than anyone else. Forums will always need new blood, and new thinking. Let's stop the paranoia, trust the mods to sort the wums out, and welcome people in, rather than putting people off!
Well said Bob. (Bony to start, Aguero to come off the bench, City to win.) :-)

I've been thinking about this post count thing, and have found myself noticing they are missing - which suggests subliminally, I'm looking at the count for some reason.
Surely, if we look at a post count, it's already causing us to hold a 'view' on the validity of a post, which feels wrong. The validity should be measured in the post content.
I feel uncomfortable without the post counts, but by logic tells me it's the right thing to do. It encourages arguing the point and not the poster. That can only be a good thing.

I've been on the end of it, so know full well they get it wrong. Fortunately, I'm thick skinned, but not everybody is. There's a whole spectrum of opinions amongst literally tens of thousands of City fans, and it's not just 'positive' vs 'negative' posters - it varies between topic.
I'd like to think City fans are considered a decent bunch by other fans. There will always be some who hate us, but there are things we can do to promote good will. Not acting like pitchfork wielding vigilantes would be a start.

As i said the mods need to warn those who jump on others and call them rags etc unless it jokey between posters who know each other

The mods have told us to report those who come to wum so they can check them out, that seems enough to me

Thank you for the good advice on negativity. Does it matter though, what the site is? Should football fans be abusive to new members posting, when other forums of whatever persuasion are welcoming?
Now that depends on what they're saying....its a football forum not a crochet. agony aunt site.

Expect banter sometimes.....Give and take.....you're not soft cunts at the match

Then again..........

I want to defend the admin here. I think it was I that finally tipped the balance in removing post counts. I have mentioned it before but brought to admins attention again recently. i'll be honest I didn't expect such a backlash to their removal. I still though see no reason to have them, perhaps when selling or buying tickets but as you can click on the profile anyway I can't see a problem. I think its fair to say that lower post count members are treated differently that some of the more established posters, that can't go on.we were all "newbies" once. i joined bluemoon in its infancy, well before this version of 2004 and it was a much friendlier, warmer and more humorous place to visit. much more welcoming. that may have been due to the sheer lack of numbers back then, not as many loons, but either way it was just a miles better forum to post on. we did yearn new members but there was no click hunting(there were no advertising done on here back then) we just want the forum to grow and of course survive.Ric, to his credit, he was ever so young back then lol, stuck with it, the members stuck with it, its still the members that make this what it is today, albeit in greater numbers. sadly that then breeds more cunts, not many, maybe one or two but they are here and we have to put up with them. had this my forum they would have long gone, but its not so we move on. this forum has seen off many a pretender, some of the "completion" have fell by the wayside some have evolved from here and some have survived the same journey we have so good luck to them, all that matters is this one stays out in front. we can do that by being what we set out to be, a city forum for city fans who indeed welcome interest from other fans too. lets give all new members the welcome I got all those years ago, be it blues or otherwise. lets trust the mods and admin to wean out the rabble, better still if a plonker or a wum joins and posts just report them, let the mods see whats going on and they will deal with it. don't just slag the poster off, you may just be wrong.
knowing Ric as well as I do he will seek our opinions on this issue and if in the future he feels no benefit from the removal of the post count he'll not hesitate to reverse the decision.

I'd tell you all to fuck off :)

So your in two minds then :)

Lived with it for a few days now and still don't like it and am fed up of checking profiles of posters i don't recognise

Seems to me those who say hi and it's their first posts are getting a fair hearing,i assume you still vet the first few posts anyway?

If we lose today the low count WUMS will appear and go again until our next loss, they are the ones who get the hard time or reported

As i said before caution the regular posters who give new posters a hard time, they will soon stop doing it

You will never get back to the days of a happy and innocent times, that boat has sailed,we now attract fans and WUMS from other clubs in equal measure, that breeds suspicion,if you can't take some negative reactions to your posts then a football forum is not for you
