Post Match Thread - City vs Palace

Just caught up ....if Motson was a horse he d have Been sent to the glue factory years ago. Terrible commentary. Still anything is better than Tyler
Motson and a few others BBC commentators, including sadly Ian Cheeseman, don't even pronounce Wilf's name correctly.
It's Bony as it 'bonnie lass' not Bony as in BoneyM.
I complained to the BBC a month ago but they evidently don't do staff memos.
Lineker and Tyler do get it right so credit where it's due.

Why did you complain? Do you share the same name.
Seems a bit sad tbh mate.

Even at this early stage it feels like we're destined to win the league this season. Wasn't the greatest of performances but it had oodles of character. I won't dig out players who I thought weren't great, but I will dig out all the knob heads all over social media calling one of our players a ****, fanny, twat, etc. His shot led to Kelechi's goal and just as importantly he may not be a best XI starter, but he has the trust of the manager and has delivered far more than people care to accept.

Pardew got put back in his box too which was nice. Oh and De Bruyne, (just like Sterling), looks a bargain even at the money we paid. Happy fucking days.

Well said, too many ready to knock him.

Result aside (which was great) the big plus was De Bruyne's performance. Hardly wasted a pass, and he was always looking for the forward pass - nit just the safe sideways ball that we were so good at last season.

De Bruyne made a great debut. He's a very creative player, that's what we need for our midfield.
I think that this year short passing system in Manchester City will give us great results. The team has much more cohesion than the last year.

It's become very personal in the last 12 months. Shouldn't surprise me as we have a history of behaving like proper cunts as supporters when it comes to players we don't like or don't fancy. Still though, you'd think someone who's been INTEGRAL to two PL titles, and probably both domestic cups we've won also, would get a bit more credit and a bit less abuse.

I just think it's basic professionalism for commentators and at every opportunity seek respect for all things City.
Fair comment on sad comment, guilty as charged.
I like your poster name "Once in a Bluemoon" and hope it gets pronounced correctly.

Kind Regards
Mr Smith

If this is true, then it is incumbent upon City to sign Clyne, drop Aguero and play the lad up front, alongside the Ivorian.
Sort it out City! We want Bony & Clyne...I'm off to get the tattoo, already!

A great three points against a very pacey team in good form. We should be happy as larry, not singling out misplaced passes, loss of possession or missed chances etc. It's a team effort and our team won. Why some feel a compulsion to seek out every mistake we make is beyond me; no one is perfect and mistakes will be made.

The worst performance by officials I have ever seen I thought they were going to start crying when itchy scored I was adamant they were going to disallow it! It stunk and really needs looking into!

That Palace side are hardworking and tough without the ball and like lightning with it. Bolasie, in particular, is a handful and will continue to win corners or, better again, free kicks in dangerous areas. From there, they have the aerial power and an astute (dickhead of a) manager who will set them up well for set-pieces.
In short, they're a good team. In real terms, the best we've played so far (Chelsea were poor and Everton nowhere near as threatening).
We beat them, though.
Some of out lot performed better than others. That's the nature of a team game. Some made mistakes. Such is life. As long as we keep winning, all is well and good. Let's not magnify blips and errors into something more worrying.
We didn't beat a team as good as Palace are by carrying passengers.

5/5 from West Brom (A), Chelsea (H), Everton (A), Watford (H), Palace (A) is incredible. Really tough start to the season on paper and we've been fantastic, 3 away wins on the bounce is good in any league - 13% of the season gone already and yet to concede a goal!

I so hope Navas puts one away soon, there is so much he did well yesterday, there is so much to like about his contribution to the team but the image after every game is of his miss or poor cross. Come on Jesus.

As for comments on Bony, strong as about six oxes, good touch, intelligent player, lacking a little predatory confidence but that's about it.

Just love the fact that when we didn't have aguero , silva, sterling we get bony , de bruyne and Nasri. That gives us a reserve forward line that is top 4 quality itself.

Yesterday was going to be a tough game. They've got huge confidence at the minute and we've got a couple of injuries to key players. The 3 points is what mattered yesterday.

Further increased our lead on chelsea to 11 points.
Further increased our lead on liverpool to 8 points.
Held United and Arsenal at arms length with a 5 points gap.

After 5 games we're 5 points clear of the rest, looks like the injuries to Sergio, Silva, and Sterling are not serious and hopefully they'll be back for tuesday. Whats there to be unhappy about?

Not to be picky but would have liked to have seen the likes of Kompany get in the face of Dann after Aguero got kicked off the field.

He needs to leave the commentary thing now as he clearly can't keep up with the pace of the game anymore. I've noticed that he never seems to do any games outside of London
I think the MOTD commentaries are done on the highlights, they don't have a commentator at the match, so I remember reading somewhere.

When compared to last season we got 6 points from the same fixtures (matching Watford with Burnley according to their final position in the Championship in the previous season).

Big improvement in performance leading to big improvement in points gained.
