Post Match Thread: City vs Spurs

Sky have the cheek to pull Pellegrini over and show him video evidence. Do that with Clatanburge too. He should be answerable to that. Disgusting.
Better from yaya and most the team but still not good enough.

Much improved performance, better team throughout. Undone by Clattenburg cheating (and poor finishing).

Disappointing result, sure - one that probably puts the tin lid on any title aspirations. But the performance warrants praise, not criticism. Set up was good and worked, and the players showed much more fight than usual over the 90 mins.

Some common sense, good to see.

Video evidence of what mate? I don't watch the bullshit.

I was referring to the other week where they made Pellegrini watch a replay of an incident. They should have done the same thing with the non hand ball to the ref. Or at least ask him to explain what he thought he saw.

Ah right, gotcha. They're never going to do that. Why? Because they don't like us very much. There's a reason I don't watch the bullshit. If I could mute the commentary I'd do that too, relieved when I find a foreign stream to watch games.

The signs have been there for a while.
A number of players lack motivation.
We are very poor when not in possession and completely fail to put any pressure on their players until we go behind, by which time it's too late.
It was galling to see how well we played second half once we went a goal down and it's almost incomprehensible how contrasting that was with the first 45.
Its clear to me that Pellegrini is unable to motivate this group any more and is nowhere near getting the best out of this team. That combined with persistently suicidal tactics will cost us much silver wear this season.
I am optimistic that the arrival of a more disciplinarian approach next season with the addition of a few "workers" to the team will get us there.

Agree that it was better than recent performances, however we weren't great by any stretch of the imagination so saying that's the best we've been for a long time is a pretty damning indicator of how bad we have been.

Nothing wrong with our effort yesterday. We played it cautiously which was working well until Clattenburg decided to intervene.

Some of our passing in the final third was a bit awry but motivation wasn't an issue yesterday.

Pelligrini looked like he`d actually got an idea how to set the team up yesterday, unfortunely we know he`ll revert to type and make a fuck of it very soon

He did. He even made a change at half time, swapping the disappointing & non closing down efforts of Silva on the right, with Sterling, which made a big difference to the effectiveness of both teams. The kind of tweak people like me have been asking for, rather than random fucking about (except if he has seen a problem, why not change after ten minutes ?)

But even so, just when it looked like he had realised where our problem lies, with his original team selection, in the end, Spurs ran through the hole Pellegrini created in the middle of our midfield.
He again backed Yaya doing one thing which will win us the game & gambling that we get away without his weaknesses elsewhere being exposed. We didn't. Again. And the oppo manager put fresh legs in there & grabbed the opportunity Pellegrini had given him.

Even on a relatively 'good' day, he is still out performed by the rival manager, & by some distance if you compare their plan & organisation as a team, to ours, which was non existent. We are even being outpassed by teams who are nothing special at keeping possession.

We have a fantastic set of players who are playing at 50% workrate & 50% invention & a manager who gets praise for days when he's almost competent & hasn't been totally ripped apart.

He is so incredibly lucky to have his job.

Yet if Fernandinho hadn't been ball watching there wouldn't have been a big fucking hole in the midfield.

To all those who've given up on the title, the team and the manager; I presume we won't be seeing you at the ground again this season???

Get real, we have no chance of winning the title. Yes I will be going for the remainder of the season.

Pellers seems to vary little from the game plan that with the selection he makes - great international footballers - something will turn up. The players will do their jobs, get away with the odd mistake and the hundreds and thousands of chances that come our way will have the odd conversion. It's the Micawber plan. Sometimes it works, most time it doesn't because we cannot cope with highly organised teams who have clearly done the lowdown on us and find it incredibly easier than they anticipated.

Spurs had fully stamped visas and passports to enter our half knowing full well that Carlos wouldn't be troubling them and Danny Cheating Bastard Rose could be a left winger all day!

When it works it's unstoppable, when it works it is a joy to behold. When it doesn't it is the most frustrating thing to suffer for ninety plus minutes.
