If you are Tory & agree with a coalition to stay in power. How can you be OK with siding with Unionist terrorists after basing your campaign on calling Corbyn a terrorist sympathiser? No shame whatsoever if you agree with this.

I would have said the same if Labour had joined with Sinn Fein! Fucking despicable!
Would you have felt the same way if the Labour party had jumped into bed with the SNP to form a government ?

I'm just playing devils advocate here as I'm a lib dem voter rather than a labour one.

In terms of the end result, I completely agree that ultimately, it's a loss and regardless of how smug some
of the left feel, that won't alleviate the real life struggles of people and the potential consequence is the conservatives having to cosy up to a party that makes UKIP look like the class of Glee.

However, if there was to be an election later on this year, is there not an argument that full support from the PLP from the onset and a change in the rhetoric against Corbyn by the press (given that tactic didn't work) might be enough to get him over the line?

Independent takes an interesting angle on how close it 'could' have been.

Circumstances are fluid, of course, so with other factors changing as well, there's no saying what you suggest would necessarily be enough.

Yes, but not as badly as if they had joined up with people with paramilitary backgrounds. If they had joined with Sinn Fein I would have been appalled. If they joined with the SNP I would have just been pissed off!

Clearly the country has issues with the deficit.

I think the labour support was hugely boosted by the student vote who were enticed by the tuition fee boost. I don't know how many billions this would have amounted too but would imagine it would run into multi billions. I personally think there should be a middle ground on tuition fees where by only a percentage is paid back depending upon tax paid over a lifetime. I genuinely don't like Corbyn and was frightful that he would go into a coalition with the snp and sien fein.

Can see how devout labour supporters would be devestated about the dup coalition but as someone who believes that the economy would have been destroyed under labour it is a price worth paying. Would like to see someone else come in and unite the Labour Party to a centre ground. I don't remember the passions of left and right and entrenchment of our views being this poles apart on the 90s.

It's not a Brexit if they don't. It's EU membership without having a say in anything.
I guess we will find out eventually. I suspect we will hear something like "this was the best deal possible for Britain, we are proud of the contribution migrants have made to our great country, we will allow migrants but with new measures and lower numbers, blah, blah, blah".

I know quite a few people who voted for Brexit for reasons other than controlling immigration. If you added the remainers to the brexiters for whom immigration control was not a key issue it would come to well over half of the electorate. A soft Brexit would meet the aspirations of a lot more people than a hard Brexit in my opinion.

So from a majority she is now having to bend over to an extremist party who hate gays and abortion. What a plan.

What will the Brexit negotiations entail? We will have freedom of movement but no gays allowed?? Hahahaha what a fuck up.

What left wing extreme radical polices was in there manifesto ?

Dropping all tuition fees when we have a huge defecit. No cap on immigration. Increasing public sector spend. Tax rises for the principle employers in this country - i.e small businesses. That's just for starters.

As this man has said on question time just said - there have been no cuts. There has been control of expenditure - as was completely necessary

Those aren't extreme left wing. Most of them are just left wing.

Nationalizing the water industry was a far left proposal for example

To be honest, for me, it's not dealing with people who were formerly in paramilitaries that is that problem, though i understand why somebody would feel hugely uncomfortable with it. All in all, I think it's a good thing if we've succeeded in bringing people out of paramilitary organisations and have them working as part of democratic government instead. My problem here is the hypocrisy. It's quite unbelievable. Furthermore, the DUP are a set of shady bastards embroiled in scandal after scandal. They've been holding Northern Ireland back in the dark ages for far too long now and their abuse of the veto they have which is designed to protect the different groups in Northern Ireland from being oppressed, which they instead use to oppress gay people is completely unacceptable. It's a tragedy that fellow UK citizens are being deprived of the same rights we have. For the Tories to legitimise their actions in a last ditch effort to hold onto to power is an abysmal showing.

You are aware of the SNP background before its fanciful mainstream makeover, I assume?
