I'm just playing devils advocate here as I'm a lib dem voter rather than a labour one.
In terms of the end result, I completely agree that ultimately, it's a loss and regardless of how smug some
of the left feel, that won't alleviate the real life struggles of people and the potential consequence is the conservatives having to cosy up to a party that makes UKIP look like the class of Glee.
However, if there was to be an election later on this year, is there not an argument that full support from the PLP from the onset and a change in the rhetoric against Corbyn by the press (given that tactic didn't work) might be enough to get him over the line?
