Problem with 'new' fans

I was raised approximately 400yds nearer to the Swamp than Maine Rd, I chose City because I'm not a complete and utter cnut......................... and that is the only reason you need IMO.

Unfortunately don't get to so many games now, but I guess that's my fault for living in Cornwall !!

Me too, don't see many blues down our way. Just outside Camborne myself but still love City, have done for a decade or more and don't give a fukc what anyone (on this board or elsewhere) thinks

if thats the case OP, then we can stop making fun of the rags with their huge fanbase/gloryhunters. i for one dont like the new plastic fans

So I take it; a) You know them all personally, and, b) You know exactly that they are 'plastics'.

IMO; a very weak argument used in an attempt to justify blinkered jingoistic attitudes. . . if there was some kind of over-riding rule that said a football fan simply had to support their most locally placed football team then you'd be out there supporting your local pub side wouldn't you.

Think about it - then put your view. If you're still convinced as to your argument you'll be out there shouting for the Bay Horse Wanderers for sure and not bothering with the Blues eh?

I support my local team as well as City. Try again.

Just out of interest, let's say that this local team you support starts being successfull and progressing through the leagues, maybe even to the Premiership. At what point (or division if you like) do you drop City and continue to watch this local team?

Your piss weak argument was about proximity = support.
You don't do it yourself or (by your proximity rule you'd need to support all you local teams in proximity order.

Added thought is that you're not the ruler of the known universe so your small minded bleat does nothing to stop City fans being City fans regardless of where they live. . . nuff said eh?

PS. I don't mind you having a weird opinion - I'm just pointing out how weird it is. Made me laugh anyhow (thanks).

Do you know where I live?

Think first and then ask: is my argument based on complete guesswork? If my guesswork is wrong, do I look like a ****?

My point is - I find it strange that someone from Stockport does not support Stockport County. Stockport County most powerfully represent the culture of Stockport - and the culture from which a person from Stockport comes from. Hence my argument, a person from Stockport should support Stockport County. Do you follow?

In fairness, you're chatting total shite and I'm certain you're fishing.

Just in case you're not...

What if someone who was born and bred in Stockport for example, has a mum and dad who were born and bred in Manchester and raised their child as a City fan?

Is that not allowed?

I'm not being dogmatic over it, I'm simply offering a opinion which I think, if everyone followed, football would be a better game.

Anyway, as for your question, I'm saying that football should be a celebration of your culture. If you think Manchester is a better representative of you than Stockport then that's up to you.

I read an article last week aparently its not far off the mark and they have done so many polls on this...77% of fans follow there dads team!

I posted the below statement on a similar thread a week ago or so, but it is still applicable, so...

WIth respect, I am a new fan, and let me assure you City are easy Club to get addicted. I cannot wait to come back to Manchester and party with you all again...I came over in November for the Manchester Derby and Birmingham City matches. Let me share a couple observations about my visit...Manchester women are stunningly beautiful. So many skirts, and do you remember the wind that week! And Manchester women love American accents. It was either that or my pectoral muscles, but I digress. My point is if it comes down to me not adapting all the Mancunisms of English and it offends a few on this forum, or it helps me meet birds at Sinclair's Oyster Bar, I pick the accent for me.

Let me say this, American football playoffs are on, and I am watching Leicester and Millwall, still brooding about the Villa loss--never could have seen this happening two years before world cup. You all are blessed to have a cool city with beautiful women and people in the bars are so fun to drink with, and City are so easy to get truly addicted to. The drama is constant, the hopes so high, and the spectre of 'typical City" always seems to linger at even a small level.

I have not taken a troller to the Faroe Islands, yet, but I cannot wait to have my City stories from around the world...Rest assured you party with me on a City weekend, its on like Donkey Kong. I am saving for my next trip now...hopefully it will be Dublin in May followed by a party at Mary D's.

Besides, when it came to "plastics", everyone seemed to accept my plastic debit card just fine at the pubs around Manchester...but again, I digress. I Cheers!
