Problem with 'new' fans

Im from another country. My first clear thought being newlyborn wasnt "yeah, Ill support City Til I Die". Never even heard of City til I was around 8 or something. Not a single person in my surroundings either. Today tho its the first thought on my mind when I wake up and the last when I fall asleep.
Eeehrm, that is if I havnt been lucky finding a nice girlie lying next to me or being unlycky falling asleep next to my wife.[/

But anyhow, some of you even remotely think you can say I cant follow my team!? Me not coming from Manchester? Forget that. Fck that even.

I agree m8. We should welcome onboard all those that have seen the light. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter where our fans come from, we will STILL be the ONLY football TEAM to come from MANCHESTER.

I remember watching City as a kid in the late sixties growing up in Dublin. I have always been a TV supporter. Not any more tho' ... but the point is ... I was the youngest of a brood of footies fans ... Liverpool, Everton and Leeds where the teams in the house. I got caught on the City bug. It's like a virus, once ya get it that's it for life.

In this new incarnation of City we will attract thousands of fans like me ... all over the world. Eventually they may get to their Mecca and actually see City playing. This is the world of supporters all over the world outside Manchester.

Now that me kids are grown up I really have considered shifting life to Manchester and get meself a season ticket and spend the next twenty years watching City ... it would be fukn bliss.

On here you get the feeling that some people resent the likes of me. This is a classic case of cutting yer nose of to spite yer face. 'Plastic' City fans will never turn us into 'rags' ... it ain't in the dna.

I believe City have a class about them that the rags will never have regardless of trophies. This class is what kept the club the most loyally supported in the UK through thick and thin ... definition of class!

As long as we never forget where we came from we won't ever be scummy fukrs who are only in it cos we win, we are in it cos we choose to support a team ... from a far ... that catches the imagination.

I imagine City as 'above' the gutter that is the lowest common denominator team ... which is why 'we' attracted a Sheikh ... that lad has taste!

My borrowed from the German Central Bank 2 euro's worth!

Hope to see ye all feckin' legless in delerium in May!
to be sure!!!

Come to think of it, my original ST at Eastlands was right behind a brummie City fan, kept shouting "come on citoi" (thick brummie accent). Did my head in. I moved.

That might have been me, i dont think i have much of an accent but all my relatives think i do... sorry if i did your head in, how wrong of me to support my team... I was born in the Midlands to a blue family, all from the northwest, I chose to support City because there wasnt any other option in my eyes, my dad and big bro were blues... I have been going to City since Peter Reid's time in charge and have had a season ticket since the Kippax was knocked down, which is more than my dad and bro have ever done... but reading this thread it seems to some that because i dont have a Manc accent, wasnt born in Manchester and i dont live there, i should stop supporting City for some reason... thousands and thousands i have spent, watched all that shit, actually supported my club through thin and thinner - without the help of any other blues in work or the pub, to back me up in any banter and now we are going somewhere, i need to do one according to some - totally laughable...

In life things are rarely black and white - there are all sorts of shades of grey - its a shame that some cant quite see that...

I have no problem with anyone supporting City for whatever reason they choose - as long as they understand our ways, and arent like the legions of Rags i live by and work with...

Mate, it's me, not you. I was young and foolish.

The problem isn't new supporters. It's those older supporters that think they can set the rules over who can and who can't be blues.

My first few years watching City (from Wikipedia)

Decline and manager merry-go round (1984-1989)

Unfortunately, a catastrophic loss of form under Benson (11 points from 19 games) saw City crash out of the First Division after losing to Luton Town on the last day of the season, when a draw would have prevented relegation.

Billy McNeill took over as manager during the summer, and after a near-miss the following season, achieved promotion in 1985. This renaissance proved short-lived however, as City barely survived in 1986, and McNeill left the club to become manager of Aston Villa a few weeks into the next season.

Jimmy Frizzell became manager for the rest of the season, but failed to prevent relegation with City finishing the season in second-bottom place and suffering relegation alongside Aston Villa and Leicester City. Frizzell then stepped down to be succeeded by Mel Machin.

The glory of it all!!
