I'm confused with this, apologies if I've read something wrong but I thought you said the doctor was happy with everything and it was an enlarged prostate? What was your PSA level? Mine has jumped in my last test by quite a lot so I have to have a second test. I've been under the consultation for a good eight years and this is a surprising, worrying and unexpected shock for me.

Dr says literally I'm happy with what I found, urine, PSA (didn't tell me reading) and bloods fine, examination was ok but felt enlarged and will speak to my colleague and call/txt you with 24 hours with my recommendation that we prescribe medication for enlarged prostate. Her phone call 5 hours later she says that colleague had some concerns re blood in semen and they will speak to urologist with prospect of having another checkup. Usual waiting time roughly 20-25 months but I can expect an appointment within 4 weeks

Thanks for getting back. Blood and semen in urine occasionally happens with an enlarged prostate, it's happened to me. Obviously if it's happening regularly that needs investigating further.

My consultant said there's not really any medication he can give me to shrink it. He said he could give me tablets to help with the urine flow but I didn't take him up on it. I'd advise asking your PSA result and they should check that every six months if it's high, less if it's very high. Good luck with it.

Cheers, yea think tablets mentioned help with urine issues rather than reducing swelling of prostate. I will ask for PSA results when next speaking to surgery

It helps with improving the urine flow as on bad days it's a bloody trickle. The PSA is an indicator things aren't right. It should be 4 and under. Mine has fluctuated between 5.2 and 8.9. After a delay of four months over my six monthly test it has jumped significantly which is worrying. I have a repeat test on Thursday and I hope it has dropped or I'm back; n the mix, scan, biopsy etcetera.

I hope you guys will be OK. I'm hopefully on the road to recovery. My PSA was 4.6 and I was positively diagnosed following the biopsy. I had Brachytherapy and then Radiotherapy at the Christie followed by hormone jabs. PSA now 0.05 and being tested every 6 months. I'm always happy to have a chat with anybody about it if it may help.

Can you have a test without any obvious symptoms?
Yes mate you can .. I did the test with no symptoms. And we found out I had prostate cancer , yes it’s scary but it’s all about time
Am I unlucky I’d say no I’m lucky…we found this at the age of 52 the glass is definitely half full BB.Even though I’m not out of the woods I’m positive, as I’ve said mate don’t wait for symptoms it doesn’t always show them pal.

Definitely all males over 50 should routinely be tested. Just before lockdown I had the PSA test I didn't have any symptoms but had the test due to my mate finding the cancer after a work medical. My PSA was 3.9 and a biopsy confirmed level 1 cancer. I am now under active surveillance, not great because I know it is there but relieved that it is now monitored. Hope all goes well mate once the surgery affects wear off

Hi m all it’s getting very near the end my fundraiser for prostate cancer uk . We’re currently on top of the league for the March for March campaign it closes on the 14th of April.
so tonight I’m auctioning a signed program from Kyle Walker and photo sent from the club to help raise money this comes with a authentication certificate plus I’m putting my signed autographed ticket stub from serg when he broke the record for being out all time top scorer I was there that night and managed to get my ticket stub signed with thanks to Brian’s Kidd’s son . If you would like to place a bid pm me. Also I’ll through some rare programs in as well.
Take care and up the blues.

PSA 3.9, blimey I thought mine was a low positive at 4.6.

Hope all goes well for you

Following Brachytherapy, Radiotherapy and Hormone jabs I'm now a steady 0.01 so can't complain

All over 50 should get tested
