Public sector pay rise

Agreed.
The Government will never agree double digit pay rises in the public sector because its unaffordable.
So not sure what those demanding a General Strike think it will achieve.
There will be some workers, depending on the type of work they do and the power of their Union, will demand and achieve, higher rises which means there will be less available for others.
Will those on the left see this as an abuse of their power.
I doubt it.
You say it’s unaffordable, yet not two years ago they were giving money away to the private sector like it was going out of fashion. Will we achieve double digit, I very much doubt it but to be offered 2% just shows what they think of us, the constant cuts, sorry modernisation the fire service have lost 11000 jobs since 2010. The fires in London the other day, there were 39 pumps off the run, 40 houses were lost to fire! Boris Johnson shut 10 fire stations as London mayo, go on YouTube and see what he said at the time, that’s how he ran the country, didn’t give a fuck.
At what point do you think people say enough is enough? Don’t forget the railways and buses are privatised and they are striking so it’s public and private who have had enough. When food banks are a thing in one of the richest countries in the world then you know it’s time to rethink.
I don’t want your hand clapping, I don’t want your praise all I want is a fair wage.

I have no doubt money has been wasted during the pandemic.
Hopefully it will all come out in the Public Enquiry.
Money wasted in the past is not going to help with current wage demands.
The Country is borrowing record amounts at the moment.
You may well be entitled to higher pay rises.
But, where is the money going to come from to pay for double digit pay rises.

IDS said they are raking in so much in extra tax from all these high prices it’s insane, that’s where you get the money from.

They were only clapping for the NHS. I wondered at the time they didn't clap for all public sector workers who were working in public facing roles but there was no mention made of it. There was no clapping for emergency service workers, it was nurses.

It is applied to all pal, clapping or showering us with praise at dealing with the wildfires etc, then the next minute offering us an insulting pay rise, they can shove it.

It’s very hard to increase productivity in the Public Sector because of the nature of work that’s done, cannot be measured in productivity terms.
Therefore, the size of the Economy can only be increased by productivity increases in the Private Sector or efficiency savings in the Public Sector.
Unless everyone gets the same % pay increases, there is going to be winners and losers, depending on the bargaining strength of particular sectors of the Economy.
Can someone please explain, particularly with the effects of imported inflation that we have in the U.K, how the pay rises that some on here want to see implemented, are going to be paid for.
I am currently £4,500 a year worse off than 12 years ago.
That's £4,500 not being spent in the local pub, chippy, butchers, bakery etc.
In those 12 years both pubs in the village and the restaurant have closed, leading to the loss of jobs and tax revenue and more people relying on benefits.
Giving a teacher, nurse or administration officer in the civil service or local council an inflation matching "pay rise" isn't going to be spent on a bigger yacht or secreted away in an offshore account, but recycled in the local economy.

To pay for it close tax loopholes employ tax inspectors and prosecute people like the prospective PM who claimed to be residing in the USA while working in Number 11 Downing Street

Every politician from every Party in every Budget says they will cut out tax evasion.
Never seems to happen
The number in work has never been higher and it is well recognised there is a labour shortage
The prospective PM never claimed to be residing in the USA whilst working in Downing Street so not sure what criminal offences you propose to charge him with.
So not sure where in the real world the money is going to come from to pay double digit pay rises.
