Punk and New Wave thread.

I watched Good Vibrations on prime videos this evening. I liked SLF from 1978 and wasn't sure what to expect from the film. I thought it was quite good. I did not know much about Rudi but thought that the Big Time and RUC chant were cool.
Great film. Saw SLF and The Undertones in their prime. Got on stage with The Undertones at the Free Trade Hall. Great times!

Saw them at the Mayflower club before they got a recording contract. Stuff like Helter skelter, Carcass, Make up to break up was mind blowing live to a 13/14 year old kid.
Wow.just Wow.would have loved to have bin there.
Brilliant choice of 3 tracks.Make up or break up at the 100 club on u tube late 70s is prob my fav ever music footage.
Siouxsie and the Banshees are one Class act.
My favourites are Redlight,helter skelter,Playground twist,Arabian Knights and,last but not least.....Cascade.Fantastic track.
Great band.

May be shit to you but The Damned are a very underrated punk band and original from 76 and still playing nowadays. First UK punk band to release a single (New Rose) and and album (Damned Damned Damned) before Malcolm McLaren manufactured the Sex Pistols hit the scene after the infamous and contrived Bill Grundy rant by Rotten and co.

Punk rock fooled no one but the press. Maybe you believed the hype of punks spitting on and beating up grannies in The Scum and The Fail ?

Punk bands inspired many other bands to form and evolve new genres from punk.

This track is over 44 years old and arguably the best punk track ever. Still sounds great, to me at least: )

Not really a Damned fan..but New Rose is a fucking belting track.
What a way to introduce yourself to the music industry!

Really getting back into Siouxsie and the Banshees, just wish I'd seen more gigs of them in their prime. She's aged well living in the South of France. I've just spotted Hong Kong Garden 7" single online for £495!. Wow I had that original picture sleeve.

I presume that HKG pic sleeve at £495.was for the original limited edition gatefold sleeve release on Polydor ...ive got that in my collection.wouldnt have thought it was worth anywhere near that tbh...altho im a bit out of date with current values, after being addicted to record collecting back in the day....all that stopped in 1987.when City took over..the rest is history as they say ;)
