Excellent yesterday
Nah, Tom is the man. Surprisingly absent with his praise so far. :-)Where's the list??
Isn't Tony M top?
The style yesterday is perfect for sterling , he will be presented with five or six opportunities in a one on one with the full back
The wide players are asked to stay wide and wait for the ball, the full back has to get tight to stop the cross, this stretches the back four and creates gapsBINGO.
Too many times last season he was put into positions where his skills weren't utilised properly and too many times his inadequacies came to the surface by having to control, hold the ball up, pass in to tight spaces etc. Give him the ball in one on one situations and let him run at full backs. It was also good to see how he stuck to the touchline, taking a defender or two with him and creating big holes between full back and centre back. This will be key for us improving our chances created and scoring rate as other players benefit from Sterling being marked out of the game.

Pellegrini was asking the wide players to move inside to help make the play , which is ok with nasri and silva , but useless with navas and silva
Can see why we have invested heavily in sane , him and sterling will have a field day in this system
