Raheem Sterling | Arsenal Player (on loan)

I'm not surprised that he came home his family is far more important than a game of football, because that is all it is at the end of the day.
You or me kicking a ball around a park on a Sunday is just a game of football.. scoring a winning goal in a World Cup final and lifting yourself to a state of legend is a bit more then a game of football.
I suppose it’s those that achieve greatness are the ones who make the biggest sacrifices

His family is far more important, I know mine is.

Kids in school?
Sun said his girlfriend (or wife?) owned a property firm. And a work commitment was scheduled for her. So she came back. I believe it's true. It does not sound like something the Sun (usually) makes up.

A bit odd but perhaps her firm didn't expect England making the next round after the terrible display in nationals league?

police have released a statement , nobody was at home when the burglary was committed , the burglary was discovered when his family came home , don't know where the family including the 3 kids threatened with violence came from , most probably from some sensational journalist
The "armed" part came from Raz's spokesperson. As BBC reported.

Quote from BBC:

A spokesperson for Sterling said the burglary was carried out by armed intruders while his family were home.

But later Surrey Police said no-one was at home at the time and no threats of violence were involved.

"We are aware of media reports stating there were armed suspects involved, however, at this time, we would reassure our communities that no witnesses have come forward to this effect," a police spokesperson said.

Sterling's spokesperson said the footballer was "shaken" by the news and that "as soon as he was alerted he wanted to get home, concerned for the well-being of his children".

I don't really see how anyone would think that England were going to be anything like the same team they were for a few games at the back end of the Nations League in the World Cup. I thought it was pretty clear to see that the players, as much as they would never admit it, were mentally on the beach.

Ever heard the phrase “shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted?”

A soldier on duty abroad wouldn’t be allowed home because of a break in, there’s got to be a level of professionalism which appears lacking with Raz. He could have brought his family to Qatar, other players have their loved ones with them.

Not saying he was wrong but he’s missed two City parade due to “family matters”.

Being a footballer is not the same as being a soldier ffs , you dont know why his family were in the uk

Yes a soldier is the same as a footballer, oh by the way my brother in law was flown home from Canada by the army when his father in law was ill in hospital.

With all due respect and forgiving me if I’m wrong , you’ve not got a a crack at writing your name in the history books and becoming a nations hero..
all I can think of is his family must be in a lot of trauma for him to give up a shot at reaching the very top of a hard fought career which is a shame ..
I’ll wish him and his family all the very best and hope that they can put the trauma behind them and hope Phil gets to write his name up there instead..
