Reus and Griezmann would be much better value regardless. Felipe Anderson has also had a brilliant season for Lazio and in my opinion is better than Sterling now. The other 2 are good players and are probably just as good as Sterling and relatively cheaper. Sterling is overhyped to high heavens just because he is English, i can guarentee you that if he went to Real Madrid or Bayern, he would flop massively. He is no better than Walcott, infact Walcott is probably a more complete player IMO.

Walcott wasn't better than Sterling at 20.

Marco Reus wasn't even playing Bundesliga football until he was 20 and even then in his first season he scored 8 goals followed by 12 goals.

Not sure about the assists.

It was only until he was 21/22 when he had his proper breakthrough season at Gladbach where he scored 21 goals which got him the move to Dortmund.

Sterling has been playing Premier League football since he was 17 and has had in the last two seasons a 10 goal campaign and and 11 goal campaign.

Sterling still needs to improve significantly if he want's to justify a 40m price tag, but if he carries on improving then I believe he will.

You may say that, but didn't Walcott play in the Premier league when he was 17/18?

Walcott has not really progressed that much and is nowhere near the level of Reus. I just don't think Sterling will ever improve to the level of Reus, he just hasn't got the same football brain as Reus. Reus would be class in any team in the world, Sterling wouldn't.

I am not saying he is a bad player, because he is a good player, but he is nowhere near as good as what people are hying him up to be on this site. I would sooner rather take Felipe Anderson in all honesty.

I know he wasn't, but i did say Walcott is better now.

I just don't see Sterling progressing any more than Walcott has done for Arsenal, he might end up slightly better than Walcott yes, but he will never ever be world class IMO.

Sterling needs to improve his finishing and overall end product but I do think if he can do that he will be world class.

Nobody thought Bale could be the player he is today when he was 20.

We are in for Sterling because we need HG players and he is the best one on the market.

Yeah, like i said he is a good player and he would improve our side, but if it wasn't for the HG quota, i think we would probably have other targets ahead of him. I would welcome him at City and be glad of the signing, but if it meant Griezmann or Reus going to Chelsea or Utd, i would be absolutely gutted.

Apparently we have bid 30M ,£25m plus £5m in add-ons from the daily mirror

Manchester City make £30million Raheem Sterling bid to begin scramble for Liverpool star

City are set to offer £25m plus £5m in add-ons for the England man but face competition from United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid

Manchester City last night launched a £30million bid for Raheem Sterling.

City are understood to have made verbal offer to Liverpool yesterday - and have promised to follow that up with a formal offer for the England star.

They are set to offer £25m plus £5m in add-ons to begin the transfer scramble for the sought-after 20-year-old.

City are favourites to sign Sterling but could face competition from Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

But Ethihad chiefs will be the first to table an official bid - and it will be a major test of Liverpool’s resolve as they battle to keep their prize asset.

Sterling has already made it clear he will not sign a new £90,000-a-week contract offer and that leaves Liverpool with a major dilemma.

They must decide whether to sell but City’s bid is now certain to increase the pressure at Anfield.

Liverpool are likely to ask for more than £30m but Sterling has made it clear he wants to leave Merseyside and that has cleared the path for City.

I feel you are massively underating raheem sterling and basicly just saying we are only buying him cos he's homegrown. Raheem sterling is one of the best prospects in the world under 21 and the big point is he is under 21 and has a lot of growing to do in his game and with us he will have the perfect platform and surroundings to become world class. For me he is the first person I'd be picking up the phone for.

Like i said, he has great potential and yes he is only 20 years old and i would like him at City, but i very much doubt he will be as good as Reus at 25. Thats just the way i see it.

Reus is a superstar, Sterling is just potential at the moment, so the first person i would be picking up the phone for is Marco Reus.

Reus hasn't won a Bundesliga title or a European trophy, he missed the World Cup with injury and Dortmund were largely mediocre last season even with him in the team. I'm not disputing that he's a talented player but superstar seems way OTT.
