If he had any shamed he'd have fucked off when he got demoted to oversee the reserves.

It wouldn't have been the least headline grabbing thing to do, but this summer is the ideal chance for The Snail to 'resign' so he can 'spend more time with his family'.

He royally fucked up last summer & I squarely put the blame on his toes. Mancini warned what would happen, because outside of our best 16 players, the quality needed to compete at the very highest level falls off a cliff edge and this is what The Snail failed to address to our ultimate detriment.

So imagine you're Brian Marwood.

Khaldoon tells you what the targets are plus the financial limits and you stick to them. Hazard's agent(s) piss you about and make all sorts of demands you feel are unreasonable but you go back to Khaldoon, who says you did right - we're not paying. Is that your fault?

Or you approach De Rossi's agent and he says "No thanks I'm staying put." Is that your fault?

Or you do all the spade work to get RVP on board and arrange a deal for Balotelli to balance the books. Then Mancini says "Over my dead body" and RVP's people get fed up and sign with the rags. Is that your fault?

That's what happened with all three transfers.

So you go to the Plan B targets and get a very promising young centre-back, an excellent young box-to-box midfielder, an experienced wing-back at minimal cost and an experienced defensive midfielder who can also cover at centre-back. You also gamble on a young wide player who'd had a good season in the PL for his club but for whatever reason hasn't really made the step up. Regardless, the owners consider you've done a good job.

Some of you are like bratty, spoilt kids who throw a tantrum in Toys'R'Us because mummy won't buy you that great big shiny fire engine.

However, I think its pretty unanimous that we actually weakened the squad in the 2 transfer windows by letting Adam Johnson and NDJ go and not adequately replacing them. Off loading Balotelli was the right thing to do and I genuinely believe if we had done this in the summer we wouldn't be this far behind a mediorce Rags collective - I don't have the stats but have a hunch that in the main we have been far more focused as a team since he left and without a doubt a lot of the negativity surrounding the club dissapeared when he did (cue mayhem from the Balotelli disciples on here!)
The signings of Sinclair is the strangest one at it is clear to most people with a modicum of football knowledge that he is not up to the standard we have, need or aspire to reach. Rodwell does show 'potential' but we all know his problem with injuries and with Garcia the jury is still most definately out. To be fair to Mancini he did make it 100% clear he wanted to sign quality players and strengthen. It didn't happen and the result was the events at the swamp last night.
If nothing else we must learn from this season and take remedial action to ensure it does not repeat. The two Amigo's now controlling things at the top have responsibility to ensure that top draw, high quality players are brought in. We shall see. No more arguments, no more in fighting no more excuses...

Really? And when did this come to light?

When people told me. I knew about the deal for RVP being tied up just before Xmas 2011. If you look back I posted that I was certain he was coming to us.

I only found out why he didn't quite recently.

To be honest I was certain he was joining us, but we pulled out before united made a bid... didn't we? The club refused to pay such a high fee

We pulled out because we didn't sell one of our existing strikers and couldn't do the deal unless we did. I don't believe the fee was an issue.

I'm pretty sure that Mancini would have let Balotelli or Dzeko go IF we had got RVP in. We didn't hence the "over my dead body" comment.

The thing which annoys me isn't that we never spent big or made big signings last summer, it's that when we didn't manage to do that we still spent big money on average quality players.

This isn't an anti any player post, but FIFTEEN million on Garcia? I think he's an ok player and good backup to have at the club, but that's a hell of a lot of money...especially considering we had already paid TWELVE million for Rodwell. Add Sinclair into the mix and we are very close to 35million on three very average players. Wouldn't it have been better to just keep the money and try again this summer?

What's worse, is the transfer value of all these players contribute towards FFP. They could be the difference between us signing 0, 1, or 2 world class players this summer.

Spend wise, or not at all.
