Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

it would've been a much easier pill to swallow if we'd lost cos we couldn't score goals. could just blame the striker situation and say we knew it would be difficult going into the season anyway.....what makes it so hard to accept is the way it happened. it was city of 2 years ago suddenly appearing out of nowhere again. i feel like it's pointless singling out missed chances; we scored 5 goals and then capitulated. as soon as they scored a late goal, it was only heading in one direction, and that's not down to pep or us not having a striker. it's mentality and nothing else in my opinion.

Much as I'd like us to win the CL, it's a cup comp and anything can happen, as turned out to be the case. Madrid were made look inferior to us for large parts of both games. They got soft penalties in each after us having them on the ropes. Everyone knows it & that's why we are all asking wtf just happened.

I don't blame Pep as you can't expect 90 mins from each guy every match. Changes had to be made. Forced into subbing Walker & KDB looked tired & a little off even in the first half getting caught in possession or making the wrong pass.

Where I think we fell down, subbing Rodri. He didn't look like he was struggling & I think our shape is lost without him. Which is why we need an able replacement for Dinho who has been a fantastic servant but unfortunately is showing his age.

Some media outlets calling us bottlers when we were in control tonight for 90 minutes. The bottler had a whistle in his mouth. Strange but I feel more proud of the lads than disappointed with the outcome.

At this stage now, Hala Madrid & let's make it 4 league titles in 5 years which should it happen, casts every other club in the land firmly in our shadow!

This fucking competition causes nothing but grief

Liverpool, Spurs, Lyon, Chelsea … now tonight

5 of the biggest kick in the bollocks we’ve had in the last 20 years

wish European competition didn’t exist
It’s a bit of a lottery though, you need a bit of luck and good fortune alongside a never say die attitude to setbacks, something Madrid seem to have in buckets. Us, not so much.

It seems like it’s getting worst every season. I mean tonight was just heartbreaking, nothing can compare to it. But all the other games other the years have left us with all sorts of emotions. Liverpool bartering us, last minute goal rules offside against Spurs, losing to a shit Lyon team, Pep choosing the wrong team in Porto. Every single emotion possible right there. Monaco was a rollercoaster too.

Hopefully some time in the future we’ll look back on these games and laugh while we’re on a good run of winning it.

Another big game, another we lose when we should have won.
This team is brilliant but we have a soft centre, and until we conquer that lack of Steel and lose our debilitating naivity,we will continue to be the bridesmaids.

We are our own worst enemy, the masters of self destruction. We need to address that, and maybe that starts with the boss.
