Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

That's enough whining for me tonight. Wallowing in grief is not a good look, unless you are a scouser. I think the players will be galavanised starting with a hammering of Newcastle, and then driving on to the title. Goodnight all.
I sincerely hope you are right, goodnight and hope things feel better in the morning.

oh just shut the fuck up about refs please everyone on the forum.

we get an absolute tidal wave of soft pens at home when sterling runs into someone and does his falling over trick. no handball against rodri at everton. penalty against wolves that was never one. Ferna escaping bookings for years and years

there is no conspiracy, just normal ‘home’ decisions given like throughout football history.

I love berating a ref but your view is pretty fair to be honest, some good points.

Benzema was going over before the contact. You could call the ref cowardly letting the game go which inevitably plays against us. You could call it something else too. Madrid needing a goal, +6, no football played the 2nd half of ET with Milito alone on the ground 3 minutes & the ref blows up before even reaching the time on the board.
Absolutely, Benzema bought that pen. I timed stoppages and subs at over 7 minutes in 2nd half of ET.

I ma not sure about the club, but Pep is fucked and he knows that I am sure. The string of debacles he's been experiencing in the CL with Bayern and us is astonishing, but tonight's game topped it all. He created a team that will always beat itself given a chance. Call it a character, mora fiber, doggedness, this team of 2021/2022 just doesn't have it. They collapsed every time they've been pushed in league and cups. Did Pep coached them into automatons unable to reach deep within themselves for that 'something' when needed? I just know this tonight hasn't been bad luck!
Maybe Di Matteo is the answer?

He did but the first goal changes the game and was 100% there to be claimed. Brave keeping is what we need.
I would need to see the goal again but I’m not sure why we have t got a defender covering the edge of the 6 yard box. Maybe Madrid had stretched us too much. I just haven’t seen the goal back

Unfortunately the better team sometimes loses
I think we should have won this competition 3 times already.

We are the best team not to win it,

Every season their is some sort of fuck up in a key important Game in the latter Stages.

You can go back 5 seasons and review every game in the latter stages where we went out. And blame either Pep for over thinking it, or La Porte etc.

Same old hard luck story.

I detest Liverpool.

But i actually see them pasting Madrid in the Final.

No Scouser wanted to play us.

Too many nice guys.

That and no central midfielder taking hold of the game.
My thoughts exactly tonight.
Where's our shaven headed De Jong?
Too nice to try and keep the ball moving sidewards and backwards.
I used to love a battle in midfield in my Sunday Pub leagues

Not for 89’mins we weren’t, it was perfect, however, that just embodies the real diagnosis of cityitis for me, soon as they equalised everything in the bones said ‘here we go’… forgot how this felt but when you’re head and shoulders above the opposition, the harder the pill to swallow!

That’s the thing that stings the most, we were better than them by fucking miles over the tie but poor finishing at home plus a collective shitting of pants late on gave the worst Real side I’ve seen a Champions League final spot.

Once we get a striker we should be smashing sides like this.

We seem to have a big issue with player fitness in the latter stages of the season. It cost us last year and again this. If Walker, Stones and Dias has been on top form going into this game we would not have lost.
I'm not sure what the answer is but playing our strongest team in FA cup matches only to play a patched up team in the semi-final seems a bit daft.
Our youngsters have been a bit unlucky with injuries this year - Palmer and Delap could have made bigger contributions if not spending long periods crocked.
I do think we are maybe pinning too many hopes on signing Haaland - yes he looks a great player but cannot play every game and he might not come. I have hopes for Alvarez but maybe he will need time to settle and not offer much in the first half of the season.
Remember when we had Kun, Mario, Edin and Tevez - seems a long time ago!
I am now of the opinion that Haaland alone is not enough.
