Personally I think we need six. Kompany can't be relied on. Zab and clichy are probably only good enough now as squad players. Dinho is the only central midfielder who is constantly good enough to be in a top team. Silva and de Brunye are good for the advanced roles but probably leave us lacking pace in those advanced positions so really we should be rotating them. So that's probably a starting right back, centre back, left back, two central midfielders and maybe an inside forward away from a top top team.

Realistic? Possible? Or unnecessary? What's your thoughts on what we need to do this summer?

But you don't do it one step do you.

Step 1. Catch Spurs and Leicester / Win the Premiership.

Replace Toure, and get the player used to Pep' methods. And let him find out who fits in, what the whole squad can do

Step 2. Move on from there

And no better time to make a splurge like that than when you have the one manager in the world who everyone wants to play for. Makes recruitment so much easier. I'm more convinced than ever that we're going to see a mad summer and an unrecognisable team next season.

I would have no qualms if MDM, Sagna, Clichy, Kolorov , Fernando , Bony , Delph , Nasri, , Mangala, Nava even Fernandinho left in the summer.

DS may join them.

Difficult to shift 12 on in one hit but it has been done before and at worst we have to move these players on by the end on next season.

Pellegrini has done nothing despite what looks like some good young players, and some good buys. He's tried to do a Fergie in his final season and put off making changes in the hope that he could go out with a win but the team was too far gone.

Bony has been a disastrous buy even though I think there is a good player in there. Likewise Mangala. The right mentality is needed to get through adversity. Do these players have it. They make a mistake and it seems to get to them and affect their game more than it should.

I don't know why you dismiss Kompany. You have no way of knowing that given proper rest and rehab he wont be able to recover properly.
 
I guarantee that of those players over 30. One if not two have a great season next year. New impetus etc. Some players get to 'know' the game at a certain age and play it much, much simpler. I believe Pep will do this with this team

He changed Lahm and he also stuck with Boetang who at City looked crud.

I looking forward to it.

The squad is packed full of quality. A hole in midfield. Sort that and we could be very competitive without having to make wholesale change

Who else apart from Toure is past their best?

All our full backs, MDM, Silva, Dinho may have peaked. However, Pep's coaching team think they can still improve guys in their 30's.
