Recommend a Car

Loads of recommendations for Kia on here but I test drove the Sportage and didn't get along with it at all. I guess they're decent for the money but the performance wasn't there for me, plus the audio quality on the car was the worst I've heard - absolutely diabolical.

It's important to get that connection. Sounds like the volvo's the one for you.

Roughly, how many miles a year do you drive and what’s your budget?
Probably in the region of 10,000 miles. Budget is trickier as it depends what I'm getting for my money. It's as much about principle as cost.

What I mean is, I don't like the idea of paying upwards of, say, £350 a month for a car, even though I could if I wanted to.

It frustrates me that you can get a used car on finance but you'll pay an extra £10,000 for the privilege, over four or five years. I will probably end up leasing the XC40 whilst feeling resentful for doing so!

I dont understand. Why is it an extra £10k and where is the privilege element for it? That lease advert below has you paying a grand for the privilege of just renting something for hundreds of pounds a month

I’ve had one for a year and it isn’t an exciting driving experience by any means. You get reliability and a great warranty and that means a lot to an old **** like me.
The sound system sounds great but the interface is a pile of shit. If you play an album in track order and stop the car - when I restart it plays all the tracks for that artist on all their albums. Perhaps the Koreans aren’t used to playing albums :-)

Thanks.
£72 a month maintenance costs though!?

You can take the non maintained deal
The fully maintained is everything, including servicing, tyres, anything that goes wrong with it and road fund at £190
I bet you're not going to get much change out of £500 for a set of tyres

Just looked at a Volvo owners forum and there will probably be a big service due on that car in a couple of years that could cost over £900

I've got an Ateca Experience from these people. The car shown is the same as mine. 71 plate in grey
It's a lovely car and worth considering and £362 a month all in

I think it depends on how you store the directories and files on the USB/SD media.
Most store by artist then album so you get artist priority.

was never a problem with a cassette tape player! you got what you got from start to finish!

I’ve got them structured as artist > album > track. I’ve even added a 3 digit track number as it was playing them in alphabetical order. You can get it to play an album in track order but as soon as you restart the car it defaults to playlist mode - so it sorts all tracks in alphabetical order ( on all albums for the current artist ). Infuriating

A 3008 Peugeot diesel would be very much good to go. Great looks and interior and beautiful velour trim on the GT pre 71 plate. The Allure premium would still get nice looks and plaudits though and should be acheivable at around 16k on a 71 plate on average mileage. Give the 1.2 petrol a big swerve for wet belt reasons alone.

The GT model can still have that plush velour trim on a 71 plate on a 21 year. The bean counters waded in on january 22 year cars reducing the seating spec to that of an allure premium and below. Not a biggy but nevertheless similar in dimention to reducing the size of our chocolate bars, tubs of margerine, tins of roses and celebrations etc etc.
