Red Card for Glen Johnson?!?!?!

Unfortunately incidents in football are not always black and white. It's when the FA or FIFA try to dumb down the rulings to take away the referees interpretation that we get farcical decisions. I get your point entirely but we need consistency of interpretation not FA or FIFA dictats. Following Sunday's debacle people and pundits have been saying that a two footed challenge is now outlawed, hence Vinnies Red, but obviously whether there is a risk to one of the players should be considered. We need more referees that have played the game, not necessarily to a high standard, but people who know what is dangerous play and what is not.

Good point, the incident might not be, but you'd hope the rules around it would help, as opposed to hinder in consistent decisions that are good for the game long term.

The amount of people i've heard this week saying; "by the letter of the law..." who've never picked up an FA handbook is ridiculous, and that includes the scores of idiots in the media.

Fair point actually. But I don't think it was "marginally worse". It was a potential career-ending challenge in a way that VK's could never have been.

If Lescott had shat out of it like Nani did, it would have looked as harmless as VK's imo.

Nonsense, the two tackles are completely different. Johnson's is off the ground, straight legged, over the ball and studs showing. If Lescott is caught it's an ankle breaker. Kompany's wasn't.

I don't think Johnson is over the ball at all tbh. I definitely think johnson's is worse but both of them left the ground with both feet and were therefore arguably to some extent out of control. Both players gave the ref a decision to make and all this shows up is the inconsistencies in refereeing which is incredibly frustrating because the worse tackle got nowt and VK got a red. But I still find it hard to get too worked up about Johnson not getting a red after all the bleating about VK, most of which seemed to be based on him winning the ball and not taking out the man. And Nani definitely took more evasive action than Lescott.

It was much worse than VKs, the inconsistency is extreme..

Now again, talk shite will be full of prattle about w*ank refs who cant do their jobs, while it goes on and on and on season on season.. Why the do they wear those poncy head sees if they don't get the help they need!!

The Ref last night was all for Liverpool, they were going in full force alot and he did nothing..

Charlie Adam winding Mario up.. You have to wonder what was being said?
Liverpool = bunch of racist tw@s

I don't really have a problem with Johnsons challenge, for me if someone gets to the ball early enough and wins it like that, fine.
I've more of a problem with that dirty **** Adam and the cowardly challenge he made against Kompany at Anfield where he came right through the back of his calf, without so much as a word from the ref, or the F.A doing anything afterwards.
As for all the bollocks coming from the 'If you leave the floor/ show your studs/ trailing leg he had to go' brigade in the aftermath of Kompanys challenge. Why the fuck are these challenges going on in Scotland, Germany and even places like Italy without players being sent off, when their refs have to adhere to the same FIFA rules as ours?

Tolmie just tweeted he's, (JOhnson), been reported to the FA, 'as of 9am'.
Said it on here 3 pages back!! No-one fookin saw it!

Not sure it should be Johnson being reported as such but the inconsistancy of refs. If Johnson is to suffer no punishment we should be allowed to play vinnie against wigan.

And also replay last night!
