Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

What requires an explanation is why play on several times during the match and not apply the same approach for the incident at the end ?

Hard to follow how a ref has played on many times and then waves his arms to do likewise again and then blows the whistle. In the time he waved his arm he could have blown the whistle - it was one or the other.

We all knew it’d end up being our fault.
“It’s just human error”
Bollocks!!!
The offside against Liverpool was human error, don’t remember the ref getting sympathy.
The non penalty for Wolves was human error.
So from now on we’ll never hear audio, we’ll never get apologies and we’ll never hear them say they got it wrong, because after all it’s just human error.

Why would an under 15 game's players be shouting about corruption at the officials in an amateur kids game, it makes no sense. They might contest decisions, that's been the same since I started kicking a football about. Football is an emotional competitive sport and those emotions can be highly charged and erupt at any second. No amount of rules, sanctions and role models will alter that.

While I wish our players controlled themselves a bit more that's only because I don't want them to be banned. Some of the shit decisions we're on the end of the officials deserve every bit of shit that comes their way. Hooper yesterday got off lightly. If he'd done that against Liverpool there would have been uproar and demands for him to be sacked. There was no logical reason for what he did yesterday, none, except to stop us from winning the game.
Ref the first sentence, because at this level, we have independent FA referees but the 2x Lino's are provided by each side. The players were accusing one of the lino's of being bent [and much worse] and then the referee the same for backing the linesman's decisions.

Disagree about the idea nothing can be done - we can all think of players - & of other sports, who manage to do this despite being highly charged environment.

I defn don't want to see our players banned - I want to see them control themselves. The idea that Ederson felt it necessary/acceptable to run up to the centre circle is laughable IMHO (or that he could have had a good view of the incident). I repeat that it was a terrible decision by the ref.: I just think we can reasonably expect more from our game, our players and acknowledge that there are consequences for junior football when kids see their role models behaving like this.

This is taken from ESPN's VAR Review, which is written with 'information from PL & PGMOL'

Review: It's not a decision that's covered by VAR, but it was by far the biggest refereeing incident of the weekend.

All referees will incorrectly stop play instead of giving the advantage to the attacking team a few times a season, but not in added time of the biggest game of the weekend when the scoreline is level.

Hooper plays the advantage, but changes his mind with the ball in flight as it is above Grealish and the Tottenham defenders. The referee mistakenly thinks the ball isn't of sufficient quality for Grealish to run on to, yet it becomes clear immediately after he has blown the whistle that the England international may have been through. Hooper's first instinct on the advantage was right, but he's then blown too early to pull it back having misjudged the pass. By that point it's too late.

Pretty idiotic to blow the whistle with the ball still in the air.
It’s also bullshit. As shown he doesn’t blow until the ball is infront of Grealish.

I've seen plenty of managers lose their shit when a ref as blown for full time while there team is on the attack.
But that yesterday was a purposeful act by the ref.
He knew Jack was through on goal and he panicked at the thought of us winning the game in that moment.
It will never sit right with me no matter what bullshit excuses they throw at us
