Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

And why would you agree with the strawman post from lassel when no one is arguing the referee should ignore the rules because it is City?
Because the comment he was replying to (FFS Taylor) was made at exactly the time Rodri was issued with the red card so you have to assume it was made with regards to that specific incident. So the response, whilst clearly tainted with sarcasm, is a somewhat appropriate question.
Has the person they were responding to confirmed that assumption?

It was a red for Rodri, and Alty Red was refereeing us differently to them. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Why does the Alty Red do this against us at nearly ever opportunity is open to debate, some think he's totally inept others think he's corrupt. Personally I think he's subconsciously biased against us and inept. But to each their own.

Raggy started the game as he meant to go on, issuing tame yellows in a game that didn't warrant it. As always with Raggy, in situations like this, he can't deal with what's happening in front of him and what Master Webb has instructed him to do. Ultimately he ends up looking a prize cock. But he's not alone as Rodders fell for it, sadly

Not sure if it was deliberate on your point but you missed where I clearly stated that I'm unwilling to comment on the standard of officiating when the only vantage point I have had is from Eat stand level 2!
Maybe it’s something you ate in Eat stand?

Has the person they were responding to confirmed that assumption?
No, but then nobody has confirmed the highly held and wildly shared belief in here that referees are instructed to be corrupt against us. Although to be fair it hasn't been confirmed that they are instructed to do so against other clubs either even though a percentage of their fanbase believe it to be true.
But we can have a go at clarification (although I suspect I'm about to win a bet with myself).
@Denis Law's Backheel was this comment in relation to the red card specifically or the standard of refereeing generally? Did it come before, after or at about the time of the red card?

Because as much as I appreciate you desperately want to believe, ultimately PGMOL is a private business with employees doing normal jobs, not one of whom have heard or accidentally been CC’d into an email and leaked any details of this secretive scheme, which any journalist would blow the budget to get hold of.

Neither have any of the referees, linesman or fourth officials involved ever had one too many sherries and spilt the beans to a friend or family member. Indeed the closest we have come is refs saying they’ve been asked to retrospectively change their reports *after* games to reduce or increase suspensions based on Sky’s editorial line.

Of course it could be that Howard Webb has bought every ref a Bittium loaded with Encrochat to give them their orders and keep this nefarious scheme deep under wraps, but not even Mulder and Scully would take that one on, and I’m sure as much as we may not agree on this topic, even you don’t seriously believe it in your heart.
You have probably never refereed a game. It is not difficult to be biased whilst appearing fair. You boss is a died in the wool Rag fan, you have been brought up hating City - loving Rags. You just give City opposition just the edge giving fouls when needed near the area or when City are in a good position. It is not difficult to do. You want to please your boss, Webb, as he is ultimately responsible for giving out top games. It really is easy to do. Especially as you have no-one to answer to. A very good example was a 50-50 ball late on today, shoulder to shoulder but Alty gave a foul to Forest. This kind of thing went on all game. It is no wonder the City players got wound up.

I wasn’t asking about the belief referees are attempting to influence the outcome of our matches, though, so try not to succumb to the same debate fallacies as lassel. :-)

Also, it doesn’t matter if it was about the red card, it matters if they were arguing “that referees should ignore the rules because it is City”, which is a completely different assertion.

And I think you tagged in the wrong person.

Here you go @denislawsbackheel.

Fucking shit as usual.
Foul on Haaland through on goal - no yellow.
A few minutes later similar challenge in similar circumstances - yellow card to us.
That set the tone.
Haaland spent most of the game being bear hugged and getting fuck all for it.
As for the player that just booted Jack from behind after the ball was long gone.
Not even a freekick!!
Words fail me…… well they don’t he was a fucking shit ****.
I do think the ref got the red card right but it probably wouldn’t have happened if he’d offered our players a little protection.
Worst referees in world football.

Abysmal

From the moment he booked Akanji for a coming together and the forward making the most of it......it was clear how the game was going to go,and the useless/bent **** did not disappoint.

His lack of control and his shite decisions ensured that game was ruined,Rodri was stupid but he was also a consequence.

There was a time we barely noticed the bloke with the whistle.......

Disgraceful officiating.

Taylor an utter disgrace today.
Let numerous Forest fouls go unchallenged.
A Rag from a family of Rags pretending to support Altrincham.
Not as bad as that Chelsea game in Pep's first season.
No referee besides Attwell could be this inept, cheating Rag ****.
Clear as day

Thank you for the corrected tag.
I'm a little confused, whilst you may not have been asking specifically about referees influencing outcomes, it is a belief you hold right? Which, essentially, is what the larger debate is about.
In an attempt to not be accused of jumping to conclusions again, I include the post below that has informed me of your belief's.

Yes, but that is not what *we* are discussing.

We are discussing your support of lassel’s strawman post indicating people on here were arguing that “referees should ignore the rules because it is City”.

If you want to discuss how referees can attempt to influence the outcomes of matches (or why they would do that), we can do that separately, but that hasn’t been what we have been discussing in our exchange thus far.

Please look back at all of our exchange for reference.

Unfortunately it seems that the tinfoil helmet isn’t quite stopping the reception getting through…

Only in these weird conspiracy threads could being 2-0 up, cruising and with tricky games coming up and getting yourself sent off be anything else but a personal loss of mind and professionalism.
It’s not worth interacting with people about refs after the match. Just let them rant.

No (or certainly from the posts I saw), he ASKED ONE PERSON IF HE PERSONALLY BELIEVED IF referees should ignore....
I didn't see him state that people on here were arguing it?
