Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

Pigmol fooling no one….Organised and obvious
it doesnt matter to pgmol that they are organised and obvious because there is no oversight, how many apologies have they given out this season for getting things ridiculously wrong and what has changed nothing and thats not to mention the stuff they have got drastically wrong and not apologised for but nothing changes apologise for being crap and get another game next week, no oversight and zero repercussions.

For me, the referee last night showed great consistency in being inconsistent. Other matters aside, his issue of yellow cards was ridiculous particularly comparing Bernardo with Dan Burn. Personally, I think that had he not already cautioned Guimaraes, he would have given him a yellow card for clearly standing on Rodri’s foot in order to prevent any possible future skirmishes between the 2 of them. I know that there a few on here who think we are all referee bashers, but it was clear these match officials do not fully referee in accordance with the Laws of the Game otherwise please explain how Newcastle were caught offside and Ake takes the resulting free kick from inside the Newcastle half?? Just 1 pedantic example, but If you are going to do the job, do it 100% correct!

I thought the tackle on Doku before Newcastle scored one of their goals should’ve been a free kick, but they weren’t going to pull it back for the same reason they didn’t for the Dias on Gordon challenge before Bernardo’s goal, atleast the ref was consistent.
The biggest issue is the playing on after an obvious offside, time for semi automated offside technology to come in now surely
The Dias challenge on Gordon was 57 seconds before the goal and we heard about it from the commentators with multiple angles of the "foul". They even dropped in another angle of the "foul" a few minutes after the goal with the only angle going that made it look like a foul.

The tackle on Doku lead directly to their goal and we didn't hear a single peep from commentators or get to see a single replay of the challenge. The replay shown them from midfield instead.

I find this very peculiar, particularly as neither of the commentators would shut up for the 90 minutes. Both were dreadful. That **** Ally McCoist was waxing lyrical about Marcus Rashford at one point

the gordon challenge was never a foul he was going down the line and knew he was running out of pitch and running the ball out so took a dive in the hope of getting a free kick by cheating (typical scouser) instead of running the ball out for a throw in AND he was back on the pitch before the goal and ironically if he had been covering his area then walker would never have got the cross in, so heres an idea dan 'lurch' burn instead of bitching at the city players go and look back at the game and show the bobb goal to that little scouse prick and let him know that if he stays on his feet rather than chucking himself to the ground then better things cann happen.

Totally agree never a foul but the arsewipes in the media trying to make out as though we have "got away" with one.

course they are because it sets an agenda going forward and if you want to give that as a foul then everytime a defender shepherds the ball out of play in the penalty area then you better be giving a penalty

It’s a good thing Bobb stayed on his feet to score as so many players would have gone down but knowing that ref, although a clear penalty he wouldn’t have given it ( despite more contact than the foul he gave the Dippers keeper v us) with Var using the not clear and obvious excuse to back him up

I said someone would try. :-) To be fair, I am not just singling out the referee. The linesman was a dick, at first he followed the rules, don't flag, because of the injury he started flagging and then he stopped. The players didn't know what was happening. My main anger is the bookings. You simply cannot book Bernie whilst letting theirs off. All we want is a ref to be fair, he wasn't.
So it wasn’t ”disgraceful”. It wasn’t perfect, but there have been far, far worse refereeing performances in our games.

The rhetoric in here is off the scale. I know people need to vent their spleen about any perceived injustice from our games, so should be used to it by now.

Last minute winner and people still want to moan about a couple of potential extra bookings.

Seems crazy to me.

Not quite sure what point you’re making here?

Are you saying that the referee blew for a penalty and the VAR told him not to give it?

Or the VAR told him to blow for the penalty but then they changed their mind between them for some reason?

Yep
it was after a Newcastle corner and their players wanted a handball but the game played on, then the ball went out in the middle of the park, and for some strange reason, He blew the whistle to stop the game, then waved play on ?

I don't understand why VAR are always in the ear of the referee, But they are 100% controlling the game. even when Newcastle thought they won a corner because the referee pointed to the corner flag only to change his mind and give a goal kick.

I know 1000% the match officials and linesmen are told what to do in our games, Last night the linesman not waving for offside when (clearly off) this does not happen for Liverpool or United
