Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

Another quick one but in this instance it is NOT a go at the ref or linesman.
Early on the ball over the top, a Brentford player was clearly offside but ran on to it and Eddie had to dive at his feet. Only then did the flag go up. They were playing to the rule but the rule is stupid. Eddie has already been injured this season why cant the PL relax this joke of a rule ?

I believe that after the two City injuries, Everton and Newcastle, that linesman were reminded that the delayed flag was only for really close calls and if they’re sure it’s offside, to get the flag up.

I did notice a couple shortly afterwards where they seemed to be following this guideline.

I’m behind the goal so have no idea how close the one last night was. But I did say to my next door neighbour that I think Toney, was it? pulled out of challenging Ederson because he knew he was off.

I actually like the rule when it’s applied correctly.

We had one at I think Wolves a couple of years ago where he looked miles off and everyone almost stopped but it ended up in the net and proved onside.

This incident, in the derby game City were losing and in the last few minutes the ball went out of play and there was an exchange of words between Clattenburg and Barry, apparently initiated by Clattenburg. Rather than call the referee’s attention to it at the time he waited until after the game and made a complaint under the bringing the game into disrepute regulations. Barry was suspended for one game, which just happened to be against Clattenburg’s beloved Newcastle.
Twattenberg is a horrible snidey corrupt shady fucker and a bald cheating bewigged bully who I wouldn't piss on if he was on fire. Other than that he's a shit ref.

Is this role reversal, me defending them but you having a go :-) I'm on the halfway line and he looked 3 yards off to me. I assumed he was doing as instructed. I will state that refs are not given any help by those in charge. Constant rule changes and interpretation is not good.

I still think the ref was Brentfords best player.

Believe it or not, every post I make on here is an honest opinion. I don’t have any agenda.

I’ll have to wait until I see a replay to have an opinion on this one though. From behind the net, it’s just impossible to tell how close it was.

Eh? He’s no longer allowed to ref Liverpool matches as he was the VAR when Diaz’s goal was disallowed.

I mean PGMOL know that, they’ve tried to weed many of them out for being either old or incompetent, but they got struck down to such an extent that the fitness test isn’t worthy of the name and refs can basically go on until 55.

If you take a look at the Championship it’s full of youngish refs now that PGMOL are fast tracking through so that they can have a wider pool and stop having to give the same old names important matches.
When are they taken to the mind changing labs before becoming a Premier League ref ?

He eclipsed Alty tonight for his positional strategy of always cutting off at least 2 or 3 lines of passes in the final third he’d be a great addition cause it’s something we ourselves don’t seem very good at when defending
I thought Brentford had given him instructions to man mark Akanji at one point.
