Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

This thread is discuss the performance of the officials there are numerous for the team I don’t see anyone specifically blaming them for City not playing as well in the second half

The thing about Jones today is he officiated the game inconsistently gave Rodri a yellow for kicking ball away yet it happens numerous times after that with no action He booked Grealish for saying something nasty to the incompetent Lino yet minutes later didn’t book a BHFC player who got in his face Frequently our players we’re tugged yet no yellow Akanji got a second yellow The FK against Foden at the end was a nonsense decision The offside against Docu when he was yards on Lino indicates he came back from offside yet he didn’t move and what about delaying offside flags
Jones and the Lino on Colin Bell were very poor today
That post was from 2 weeks ago. Fucking keep up, you and the rest.

The ref today… despite his blatant incompetence was so damn arrogant. Strutting about with his nose in the air…. Where do they find them. I thought his decision to book Jack for contesting a decision with the assistant was immediately followed by Dunk doing the same to him…. But no card obviously… it’s a joke.
That joke isn't funny anymore.

It was a piss take - it was blatant.

If it ever came out that referees have been used to manipulate results and send players off prior to big games it would not come as a shock to me at all.

I genuinely believe we are at a tipping point with refs.

We've already had dodgy/incompetent refs in the past. Wiley, Webb, Walton, Riley, Dean ect but this batch of refs have taken to another level.

All of them are wildly inconsistent and they have the veil of VAR to protect them now.

I don't trust a single one of them.
To add to the point about the non existent fitness tests allowing guys like Friend, Moss and Dean to retire on their terms - at least 5 years late in each case, you then have the issue of salaries for referees.

The top PL referees get a salary of around £40k a year, with around £1k per game stipend so around £70k for the most used refs…

In a league flush with an embarrassing level of cash, the official are the lowest paid people pitchside of the advertising boards…even the kids on the bench earn more, so how can you really expect to ever get new people to go into refereeing, unless they’re complete and utter weirdos doing it for the love of refereeing…..

Outside the PL, the refs are still semi-pros and most will be working a 9-5 and then travelling Friday night to their assigned game. Again, how can you expect to get the best of the younger refs trying to improve when they can’t even give them a professional environment.

The PL has the most money of any league, yet pays it refs half of what La Liga or Bundesliga refs get….even Ligue 1 refs get 50% more..
As said a few weeks back after the latest meltdown by the tinfoil brigade, the state of refereeing in England is desperately poor for many reasons, including the inability of PGMOL to get rid of the chronically unfit fuckers waddling around 5 yards either side of the centre circle, the ‘pittance’ they get paid in comparison to the money flowing around the leagues, the confused guidelines from Webb on how to treat certain incidents and the unashamed pressure put on them and their bosses by the clubs and the media.

It would be a hard job for a bunch of competent refs, for these incompetent fuckwits it’s impossible, and with the employment rules stopping PGMOL weeding them out, the few decent young refs coming up are stuck in the football league.

When they finally get a quality one in Gillett over from Australia, you have the tinfoil brigades at each club losing their minds….United fans insist he’s a bent Arsenal fan, Arsenal fans insist he’s a bent City fan..
