Well quite. That is the other problem with "higher bar". Consistency. Within games as you point out, but also over the season. How can you referee games differently when the consequences include a player being banned or not for a red card, or an accumulation of yellow cards, based on a referee's whim on how he should referee a game? It's unnecessary, it's unfair and it is against "sporting integrity", which is apparently important this week for some reason. It's just another PGMOL shit-show.

Only thing he had to referee tonight was Grealish and their right back who spent a bit of the game pushing each other over in possession.

Any of us could have reffed that game.

The German sides always give us nice games. Never any needle or gamesmanship in them.

Even at 1-1, I didn’t have too many problems with the ref. Minor gripes but no major issues.

A fair referee and no arguements with the penalty shout in the first half. Again we should have more like him in every game regardless of the competition.
