Just another of the laws the refs don't wanna call as the pundits in the studio and the infringing players are gonna complain. Same with time wasting. I don't recall a ref giving an indirect free kick when he books a goalie for time wasting.

Two different things. The 6 second law is when the ball is in play. Wasting time restarting play is a cautionable offence but can’t be penalised with a free kick as the ball isn’t in play.

I once ran the line in a Sunday league match as I wasn't picked for the game. I kept flagging their CF offside, as he was the only one (apart from our goalie) in our half most of the time. He kept telling me I was slow and not up with play. I told him the furthest back I go is the half way line, something he didn't do. I then challenged him to a race from one end of the pitch the other, and offered him a 10 yard start to test his claim. He laughed at me, but accepted the challenge.
I'd passed him by the half way line! (My PB for the 100 yards was 10.5 seconds, but I wasn't telling him that.)

I now need a calendar rather than a stop watch. It takes me 15 minutes to walk from the bus stop on Ashton New Road to Entrance D to get in the ground - if I hurry and don't drop my stick.

Having just seen Dermot’s explanation of the West Ham disallowed goal being because VAR thought the keeper was injured and the game should have stopped. (Dermot said he thought this was wrong)

Every time we concede a one on one, Ederson just needs to go down like he’s been shot before the opposition take the shot. The game should stop if that rule is correct.

It’d also mean Ederson would probably never need to save a shot again, appeasing the Ederson haters.

Been banging on about refs enforcing the six second law for seasons. Why they don't is beyond me, Martinez was holding on for 15 - 20 seconds all game and his goal kicks were taking nearly 30. Don't even get me started on him nicking 10 yards at free kicks. Hope his leg injury won't keep him out for long.

Same here. I had the same discussion on another thread. I can remember a Liverpool goalie getting pulled up for it in a European game years ago but not sure I’ve ever seen it penalised in England. The strange thing is, they’ve made a point of saying they are going to clamp down on time wasting this season, so you’d have thought the starting point would be to remind referees of that law and instruct them to maybe allow 3 or 4 seconds leeway but once it gets past 10 seconds to look to start pulling them them up. Would only need to happen once or twice and that would be the end of it.

If a ref issues a yellow card surely the game has stopped? The law that allows a goalkeeper to retain possession after pissing thirty seconds up the wall needs amending. The six second rule is another joke that goalkeeper after goalkeeper tests well beyond the limit. Yet to see one booked for taking more than six seconds.

Like to see the six second rule enforced and while we're at it get shot of offside rule altogether, should open the game up a bit.
I absolutely hate the game stopping a yard from the halfway line for offside, supposed to be an entertainment game.

Not sure we’re quite on the same page here. I’m talking about if a goalkeeper is taking his time restarting play ( usually a goal kick ) he can be booked for time wasting but not concede a free kick, as the ball isn’t in play.

Same as if a defender lamps a forward at a corner. He’ll be sent off either way. But if the corner hasn’t yet been taken, that will remain the restart. Whereas if the corner was already on its way over before the offence has been committed, play would be restarted with a penalty.
