catapult with seedless grapes. You see the punishment has to fit the crime and BTEC's are SO much lower than estimated A levels.

I would bring it back. Times have changed and it is more likely that a person be found 100% guilty these days with forensics etc.
I know it isn't a deterrent. I never expected it to be. Is there really a deterrent to anything?? Everyone knows the basics of laws but there are and always will be people who will take the risk for the reward.
And yet people still think prison is an ok method. Nothing will ever stop crime.
Now we're not advocating the use of capital punishment at any given trial but in extreme cases I think it is warranted.
Look at that lad who bashed his ex gf to death. 15yo. Completely vicious and dispicable human being. There is no point to sustaining his life. I don't think we are just as bad if he was given a lethal injection. He bludgeoned a young girl for nothing. The state wouldn't be going down that route. And no his age doesn't matter. He knew his actions and the consequences.

I think it would be a very close vote. I think there is a silent majority on this (and most other issues) who whilst uncomfortable with what they see as an all too lenient criminal justice system when push came to shove would see a return to capital punishment as a backwards step.
They would tip the balance in favour of a narrow 'no' to a return to capital punishment. I would pay little attention to opinion polls on this matter tbh.
