This is entirely on the club not City Matters.

The club chose a ballot instead of choosing to make use of the loyalty points system.

If there were only 2000 allowed to attend and I missed out to people on 22000 points I'd be disappointed but would understand. But missing out to people with less claim than myself (I have a mere 21610 points) is what's killing me. I know one **** that plays fucking badminton on Wednesday evenings so he doesn't bother with Champions League, League Cup or midweek games. He'll be there on Sunday I won't. The last home game I missed was in February 1976 before that twat was even born.

This clearly unfair and I don't share your opinion that it's just the way 'the mop flops'. The club have chosen to ignore the unique contribution of City fans of a certain age; the ones that stood by the club during the lowest point in our history. No other club has experienced the extreme lows and highs that we have and that's what makes us special.

End of rant. All academic now. I'm sure when it comes time to renew my season ticket I will have regained some sense of perspective but at the moment I'm still incandescent with rage.

The club should have stuck with the points system for this game. I say that in the knowledge that I would most probably have fallen short if they had done so. Despite its flaws, to have a system in place and then abandon it for a lucky dip just for one match is ridiculous IMHO. I've already posted that I know of 3 people who rarely go to games and yet have got tickets via the ballot. The time to change course should be in the close season, not for a single game at the end of a campaign. What will it achieve ? I can confidently predict that the 3 said people won't attend more games than usual in the future. Your badminton player will no doubt be similar, as will many of the "lucky ones". They won't be there on a cold wet Monday night when we're playing the likes of Forest Green at home in the Cup. In the meantime it looks like the Club has pissed off a lot of long term loyal Blues. Stupidity.

Spot on. One of the main discussions we had with the club when talking about potential reform of the points system was the impact moving to a 5-year rolling system would have on people currently at the top of the ladder.

Personally I'd prefer to do that on a gradual basis, so things like dividing your current points by 100, so you always retained a slight advantage, or a system whereby we gradually transitioned to a new system so that higher points holders kept their position, but maybe by knocking off 20% a year over 5 years, or something like that.

As has been said previously, the club are interested in maximising attendance so. points would be given for actually attending league and cup games rathe4 than signing up for the schemes.

Be interested to hear any other sensible suggestions.
If the club have thoughts to incentivise attendance, why not add specific games to qualify for particular matches where supply exceeds demand.

All the high points individuals would be attending anyway and those that go to say for example the early home or away rounds of carabao cup all get a chance. A variance to just joining a cup scheme.

The club has all the data of purchases on their system, whether it could cope as a sort I am not sure on the software. It can distinguish number of points so adding a further field should be possible.
