Richard Dunne

A fantastic player for us who's contribution to City will always be remembered.
However, we sold him at the right time and a player like him would not deserve to be left in the reserves in our club today!

Hadn't heard that one before (must get out more!) but it is a pretty good description. Certainly of his last season with us. The previous few seasons he was absolutely colossal for us and was player of the season for 4 (?) consecutive seasons. In that last season though you were always watching him and wondering if he was going to do something silly. Didn't manage to catch the game today (work) but he was a giant in the Irish defence apparently. Well done RD and all the best for the future.

Are you sure that post wasnt intended as a sectarian comment?
I did twig the username but, being the generous (read naive!) soul that I am, I was prepared to give the dirty hun the benefit of the doubt!

;-)

Next to no posts gives it away on top of the name. NOT NEEDED on this forum. Couldnt give a SH1T what religion our players are.

Dunne was too good for the team he played in, then the team changed quickly and at his age he couldn't be a squad player. BUT, is he worse than Lescott? I dunno. Hope Savic is all that people write about him.

Agreed. As I said, I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. If the comment was sectarian though, he can fuck off. We don't want any of that bullshit on here.

Great game Dunnie and Shay. The BBC website reckoned they were heroes.

Loved the bit where Dunnie was ordered off the pitch because he didn't have a number on his shirt and they got a black marker pen and drew the number 5 on and sent him back on the pitch!!

Never twigged that one myself must spend a bit more time with the Dudley Doright Handbook or it could be his/her lack of posts could be the fact he/her joined yesterday and you only think the worst of everybody.Wouldn't personally see anyone calling Dunney a bombscare waitin to happen as sectarian more a bit jokey.

I heard Paul McGrath tweeted that Dunne's was the best performance ever by any Irish centre half, "myself included".

He was dead right.

Now, I know the nay-sayers & the little-Englanders will be blocking their ears & singing la-la-la but suggesting that losing what, £10m between shipping him out and the vastly over-rated Lescott in (because 1 doesn't ring tills in China but the other apparently does) was good business is utter stupidity.

Dunne gave away so many og's & got red cards because he was too often the only defender awake, in the bad old days.

It's a terrible pity but, it needs saying, a tiny minority on here will never give him the credit he deserves because of his race.

Terrible piece of business at the time i thought... Dunne was immense for us, and showing now he still is capable at playing at the top level... Think it was more than £10m between them too when Lescott came in.... Think the Champs League will be a huge test for Lescott and i hope he steps up, but just looks far too nervous on the ball for my liking....

Well Done Dunney lad!!
