Riyad Mahrez - 2018/2019 performances

Wish he'd run at someone. At the moment he looks like Ashley Young from his left wing days (minus the diving), just stopping, cutting inside and either aiming a shot or cross at the back post. So predictable. It's fine doing that if it's what you're good at, but you've got to mix it up or it's just incredibly easy to stop. Needs to be so much more dynamic than he is at the moment

Very predictable again today sadly.

I wonder if Pep ever tells the player - at least when they just come to not try and do skills etc to beat your man. Saw clips of Jesus doing that sorta stuff before City. However watching a Thierry Henry interview he said Pep always told them freedom in the final third. Just a speculation as he is super predictable where as at Leicester I used to shit myself when he was 1v1 with our LB.

He’s a good player, but I just don’t rate him in our side and don’t really think for the money we paid he’s that great.

The amount of times he doesn’t pass and goes for glory... I think we could have just saved our money and given sancho a chance

His job is to cross it we have 3/4 other players to skin players his stats says he is contributing to the team and the team is all that its about, personally I’d rather play him behind the striker and thats where he picked it up and did a one two then scored, problem is we have a few players who play there.
Rubbish.

Strange. That's the word. I see u all saying that he's very predictable and far from being a 60m player. That's right ATM but what Mahrez shows since the start of the season is miles away from his real level. I'm not saying Mahrez is in a bad form, he's just absolutely not playing the way he used to.

At Leicester he was easily one of the best dribblers itw. Now the lad is scared of trying a simple dribble, he playing like a holding midfielder but in the wing. I don't know if it's due to Pep instructions, but if it's the case he should just move away from City 'cause he's clearly not the man for this RW role.
Take it you’re a Leicester fan? You wonder sometimes whether it’s the same player.

Yeah, i'm really confused. I think it's something between incomprehension of the instructions and... stress ? City fans think they know Mahrez as he's now here for 6 months but i can't remember one game where i recognized him. It's not about the opposition or him failing what he want to do. It's him playing a way i've never seen before.

He's basically now a cross/backward passes merchant. The boy was incredible creating magic from nothing while being marked by 2/3 defenders with less possession... And now that he has all the space he wants to express himself, nothing ? Nah it has to be something else. I think i said it before, we're not in a situation where Mahrez is at 100% of his abilities and failing everything he tries. He's not even at 50% and he tries nothing except from piss poor crosses.

You really shouldn't keep throwing the price tag back at players,it's not their fault the market is a nonsense
Also he has been here 4 mths, give him time to adjust

If there's one thing I hate it's being told to give a player time.

He's a £60m player who's played in the PL for five seasons. He's not good enough and I don't think he's an improvement in the slightest.

His big moment this season he fluffed and I'm sure that Sancho would have better numbers.

We've dropped a bollock with this signing.

Strange as your first ever post on here when you first joined (Jun 2018) was on the Mbappe thread (which is locked now so I can’t quote it here) your very first words were “PSG fan here”, in that post you are enjoying telling us Mbappe will never come to City! Your second post was reminding us you had also signed Naymar previously! Now here you are pretending to be a Leicester fan whilst mocking Mahrez.
As a Leicester City fan i knew he would crush himself at City. He had good numbers but most of the time he was ineffective, very overrated and nowhere near Vardy's influence. We are a better team without him. Good luck with him.
Which are you a PSG fan? A Fox? Or a WUM. @FantasyIreland might want to have a look at you.
Nice knowing you. *waves*
