Robin and Rooney threat for City

All the talk is of Robin van Persie going to Manchester City, but it is

surely at Manchester United where he could prove most devastating.

Imagine a forward partnership with Wayne Rooney: two No 10s, who could also operate as No 9s,

constantly switching, alternating, dragging their markers out of position, always thinking, always

posing questions.

If Arsenal decide they have no option but to sell, this could be Manchester

United’s best chance of matching City’s firepower. Whether it is wise for

Arsenal to create a second rival that they cannot get close to is entirely another matter.

Do the Rags need him actually more than us? if so we must act quickly and seal the deal ASAP. wouldn't want him joining the scum.

Bring in van persie this pre season, and let one go,then bring in cavani next year and let one go! Then we will end up with Aguero, van persie, cavani, and ballotelli,in 13 months time.

When Ageuro and Tevez play together either one doesn't mind dropping deeper into different space for the other as they're friends

Team mates, same as many of the squad. No particular bond of friendship there, if it's friends you want that would be Kun and Zab. Sergio and Carlos relationship started off very strained when Sergio started replacing Tevez in the national side, although I'm sure that will have been put to bed now. I have heard from second hand sources who have an insight of some things within the playing staff that Sergio found Tevez actions last season disgusting and was not impressed.

Regardless of where he ends up, this is absolutely correct. Let's see if Wenger can be convinced, though.

-- Mon Jul 09, 2012 9:47 am --

If this wasn't Martin Samuel, I would agree... but it is so I'm inclined to give him a read.

And yes, he would benefit them a hell of a lot more than that wide-eyed Pokemon and Welbeck.

Trying to be impartial without blue tinted glasses on..........if you were van Persie would you consider going to United, irrespective of whether they are interested or not?

Taking off my City glasses... you would have to consider it. You would be partnered with Rooney and a decent squad (Note: Decent not great) that has better defenders than Arsenal and there is the Ferguson Factor wherein a great many teams simply lie down and wait to be destroyed giving you a fighting chance for several titles per year.

As much as I hate it they would have to be considered although I personally think we have much better prospects. It really depends on what kind of contract is offered and how willing he is to be part of a rotation instead of what's likely a guaranteed starting position.

They would seriously adjust their wage structure to sign him, which would push Wooney's nose out of joint.

They can't afford him. All the Glazers need is CL football and they can get that without spending another penny.
