Robinho - 'Of Course I'd Enjoy Playing for Barca'

Apart from the artist formally known as Danny Sturridge, I am the main person on here who is seen as a 'Robbie hater'.

First of all, I don't hate Robinho, I have stated that I will support him when he is on the pitch for us, yet I don't see what the problem with me being critical of him on a message board makes me 'not a real City fan'.

I have had my current opinion of Robinho for the best part of a year, yet apparently I'm 'fickle and sad', Dave? Please check through my posts over the past year, I remember arguing about Robbie back in March with people.

I first joined this discussion to comment on how some people on this board treat Robinho like he is the modern Christ and if he were to leave City, then the Manchester City would cease to exist.

I carried on with this discussion because some people seem to believe that one persons ability is more important than an eleven aside team.

I will not deny that on paper he had a good season last year, in fact very good. But in reality, he was as frustrating for us that go away from home as wanking with razors. And yes I'd know how that feels.

I didn't call you fickle mate, you gave your opinion on him and told us why, that's fine, i know some people who don't rate Robinho and have argued constantly about it waiting to prove them wrong. The people who i have called fickle on here are the ones who come on and say "he can't say that, get rid, he's not that good anyway, we've got craig bellamy" and they will be the same ones who will come on here after Scunthorpe and claim him to be the best player in the world after he scores a hat-trick who will then go back to calling him "not that good" when the Barca rumours come out to play again in January.

I can't change people's opinions on him when he is sat on the sidelines but what i will say is, yes he was inconsistent at time last year but that was the be expected with all the stuff that went on and YET he still finished 4th top goalscorer in the league, imagine him when he he is consistent? Frightening.

mate, the whole team was frustrating away from home last year i should know i went to most of them. people expected to much last year imo

I'm going to go out on a limb and say theres plenty of "us that go away" that still want Robinho at the club 100%. Me being one of them.

This isn't aimed at you but the apparent ease that some posters on here have to throw Robinho away is equally as ridiculous than your percieved "Robinho is Christ" stance from other posters.

I do think you've gone ott a bit there... but anyway i don't see you as a Robbie hater.

True, but will he be that consistent? There's reasons why he was on the bench so much for Madrid - an impact player.

I'm not convinced we can play 442 with him in midfield, so either play him up front with Ade, or play 433.

Is 23 sub appearances in 101 games really that much especially when he moved there as a 21 year old?

He's had a year now of getting used to the English game and English weather, he has better players playing around him, i think when he comes back he will be unplayable for us, especially against Bunrley at home, i can see that game being the one where 95% of people in this thread who have said get rid will come out and say he is world class.

Can I just point out as well, that in all my posts, I've not once said get rid or I'm a Robbie hater. I've just pointed out reasons why I don't think he's as good as people say and that I prefer Bellers.

Yours is an opinion I respect, Mr Star, and trust me, theres not a lot on here that I do.

I'm not saying you are a 'Robinho is Christ' man, but you've got to admit that there is a group of supporters who see Robbie in the same way that people see someone like Beckham. Like 'wow, its Robinho, I love him' regardless of his form. And I really do not think that is an ott statement whatsoever.

But I agree that some people dislike him with no apparent reason - I'd like to say that the arguments I've put forward are reasonable. You ask me in a months time if I still feel the same about him, and I will. It takes a lot for me to change my opinion about a player. Although I would LOVE it if Robinho proved me completely wrong and showed that he really is as good as some people believe he is.

I hope you don't think i am in the "Robinho is christ" bracket. As you know when i see a player who is very talented who isn't appriciated by his fans or even worse his fans are clubbing taxi money to get him to his next club i become very passionaite in his defence and hope that he will prove those doubters wrong given time. Robinho falls into that bracket!

Well from what I recall in his last season there (when they won the league) they were bringing him on a lot and he was producing the magic.

But either way - Spanish League is different to ours... and to be honest in the few games I've seen him in this season he hasn't seem to come on too much from last year.
