But he's not suited to a wide open midfield, with slow partners & slow defenders.
If he was playing next to Colin Bell he'd be fine just sweeping up around him. Playing next to Gundo ? You cannot be serious Pep.
With sport science, film/scouting, and maximizing athleticism at each position that’s the new bang average. Massive no for me. You gotta do something exceptionally well and he just doesn’t offer that in any category.

I think that's unfair. I don't think he would be average in a team playing with a more traditional, balanced team. He's being asked to do a job which often requires someone much more mobile imo & even then, they would find it difficult in this current team.
Fernandiho couldn't do it, when Pellegrini's defence & midfield fell apart. No chance Rodri can solve it now.
I don’t know bud. Our MO is that we play a high line and press. I just don’t see the value at all with this one. There’s nothing at all that stands out or sparkles. The games sped up ten fold in the last decade, even more so in the past two-three seasons and it’s only moving faster.
For me, our results dipped because our CBs have no pace and our press dropped significantly while the game sped up and our tactics have stagnated.
We need a pace whore at DM with athleticism not a slug who’s decent at recycling possession.
I agree 100% but it's not Rodri's fault he has been signed to do a job which requires someone 3 yards faster & 20% fitter, in front of the Premier League's slowest, worst organised central defence.
