Nice argument. Tell me one thing Rodri has done this season that either justifies a club record fee or shows promise that he will even eventually justify it.
One thing he’s done ? He’s a holding midfielder so he’s hardly going to do anything spectacular. He’s had lots of outstanding games during the season. If you haven’t seen them then maybe football isn’t the sport for you.

He's to slow

Rodri was signed because we failed to sign De Jong and Jorginho.
Just like Koulibaly will (apparently) be signed because we failed to sign VVD and Maguire.

Say what you want about Jorginho and Maguire, my point is either Man City makes an aggressive approach to this transfer window or we will be left behind. We need a transfer window like the one in 2017. Make a point.

Not convinced that he’ll improve next season.

Sideways passing, slow and surprisingly not physical enough (not even in aerial battles?). As others have said on here, very similar to Javi Garcia.

Those games where he has apparently “dominated” are limited to very few occasions, if any, and all were against weak opposition. It’s also not hard to have a good game as an average player, especially surrounded by De Bruyne, Laporte etc. I seem to recall Javi Garcia having a blinder against Newcastle?

Anyway, I don’t think this type of player has ever been suited to the premier league. Maybe it works in La Liga, but we need more pace, more creativity and more footballing intelligence

This is how Pep described him.
Pep Guardiola on Rodrigo: "He is a young, typical defensive midfielder who thinks very quickly. I hope he is here for a long time. Rodrigo is tall, which for a short side like ours is very good. He is great at set-pieces but we didn't buy him for that."
Good God he obviously never seen him before he rocked up at city.

Got to admit I’m really worried about Rodri going into next season . He has no pace and that is a major worry . Looks like gundo is not going anywhere soon until pep leaves so we could get smashed again in midfield next season if these 2 are put together .
Gaz didn't have pace neither did nige, pep has to account for that and give him legs in the middle
