Romeo Lavia

Its a huge shame we chose to overlook two very decent, potentially excellent, academy products in favour of Philips. Both would have been far more useful last season.
Usually when City sell academy players it turns out to be the right decision, in the sense that they don't turn out to be players good enough for our first team. Maybe Lavia will be the exception but in general we get it right. Plus we don't know whether these young players are desperate for regular football?

As much as it would pain me to see Lavia go to Liverpool, I genuinely believe he's being overrated on his potential more than what he really is at the moment. I don't think he's near ready to regularly feature in a top 4 (or 5) side - in a few years yes, but not right now. But, what the hell do I know

Stupid question, if we buy him back, then we get 20% back due to sell on clause?

city must be looking and see what brighton want for CM and thought well prices arent going to come down

Unless Kalvin goes, I would prefer us to get an attacking-minded player. I haven't seen too much of Lavia, but from what I have seen, he is more of a CDM/CM, and I don't see how he gets any significant game time in our system. We need a RW/LW attacking midfielder sort of player, IMO.

So if our buy back is effective next season, does that mean if Liverpool sign him now we can buy him off Liverpool next year? That can't be right? I guess if we don't match the bid then we just get the sell on %?

no. all clauses end with the transfer, we jsut get the %

Yes, I think you are right. My mistake.

Question is - if City and Liverpool table offers acceptable to Saints, which club does Lavia choose? He'd probably feel he'll get more game-time at Liverpool.

You would think that wouldn't be the only consideration. Champions league vs Europa, playing for Pep, weekly wages offer, in a place he knows vs new surroundings would all also come into it.

You are right, he would have to want to come.

And we would have to want to sign him. Which is probably the big stumbling block, with nothing to suggest that is the case.

No one spitting in his face either
