Guilty as charged, do a lot of miles buy a lot of shoes is my mantra, hence being always skint despite working 6/7 days a week

No different to do a few miles drink a few pints which happens to be mine! Same result with the bank balance.

Tell me about it mate, I cant remember how many i got to but I can't have been far off a pint a mile after london and then the same again the week after, after manchester, stayed in a pub for the mara I did the week after manchester, but it closed before i got back, probably a good thing!! Rehydration is vital in these things

Hi mate, I use mine in rotation, Ive about ten pairs on the go(as many as I can get without the mrs noticing Im spending all my cash on trainers!!), Ive read amd also found that rotating helps stave off any injuries.
For races I use vaporfly mainly because they fast as fuck, and Im a sheep who sees everyone else has them on, for all other runs I just mix them between speed, terrain and distance.
Personally I would never run im adidas, for the same reason I wouldnt have a vodaphone or use sis gels .
Regarding buying them and they no good, Ive found that the big shops(sportsshoes, prodirect etc) and buying direct are great for refunds, I had a pair of alphafly that I didnt like from prodirect, did about 50 miles in them, sent them back... Full refund.
Same with nike, my vapourflys were a year old and developed a rip, sent them back.... Full refund. Nike give you 60 days no quibble money back, and two years on defects.
Hoka also do the same, think its try them for 60 days and if you dont like them they will refund you

I can't get away with having that many in my rotation but I don't run anywhere near as fast or as many miles as you! I definitely feel the benefit of switching it up though.

I currently have a pair of Pegasus 36 trail for erm... trail runs, Nike ZoomX Invincible for everyday/long runs and I'm on my second pair of Reebok Floatride Energy 3 (picked each pair up for less than 50 quid) for shorter outings and anything up to 12/15km.

@gaz76, I know we've discussed the Vaporflys/Alphaflys before and I should have got a pair at christmas when they were on offer but I went for the Invincibles instead. It's my 40th this month and the missus has said this is my chance if I want to splash out so I've been watching all the reviews (again) and keeping an eye on prices. Just received a 25% discount from Nike for my birthday month so going to go for it. Just a few questions...

Did you go true to size on these? What didn't you like about the Alphas? And how do the Vaporfly 2s compare to the first edition?

I change my mind with every review I watch but would love to experience a super shoe. I have my third marathon in Valencia at the end of the year so would keep them fresh(ish) until then.

I've been plagued by a knee issue. I've been doing a programme from a guy called Ben Patrick (knee over toes guys) and felt massive improvements . I could hardly run 3 mile without pain. I've increased my mileage but the marathon might be too soon
I'm stubbornly carrying on with my marathon programme. I wanted a 15 miler on Monday but my knee was in agony around the 11 mile mark, I made 13.5 miles though. The pain subsided by Wed and I managed another 5 miles and tonight I did 8 miles , (although with slight knee pain). I've done the marathon distance over 4 days with a dodgy knee so I'm proud. I know I should rest but I can't help myself. If I can't achieve my 20 miles a week on Sunday without knee pain it's game over ill carry on strengthening the knee and surrounding muscles and focus towards the latter end of the year.
End of the day mate you’re getting 15 miles in whilst carrying an injury, it’s no small feat so you should be proud. There’s always going to be time for marathons as long as you keep yourself fit so don’t beat yourself up if it comes too soon. That’s how I’m approaching it anyway.

Funny you should ask about the vaporfly/alphafly conundrum, last week sportsshoes did a one day offer on the alphas, think it was 130ish, I had only bought a pair of vaporfly a few days before but ive been doing lots of overtime at work and found the offer far too tempting.
I decided to go up half a size from the last failed attempt at alphas to hopefully get a better fit...... They didnt even make it out for a test run, just felt far too clunky and not right for my feet at all, back they went!! I think theres a reason most folk are wearing vaporfly now as opposed to alphas, and they are chucking them out on deals on a regular basis.
If your determined to go nike, definitely go for the vaporfly 2, they seem to be a better all round fit than the 1's and even have laces long enough to tie, unlike the first version!! Definitely get them from nike as well, I recieved my refund today off my old vaporfly 1s that had been hammered, but developed a tear so came under their 2 year guarantee.
I know I keep pushing this but the pumas are well worth looking at as a supershoe, Ive only done one run in them so cant say they better than the nikes, but comfort and stability wise they are off to a good start, speed feels like its there as well as I was running fasted on tired legs. Just get a pair and send em back if they no use

Cheers Gaz.

The Vaporflys certainly look better and, with the 25% discount, I could get the 2s for under 190€ (about £150) True to size on the Vapors then?

I was looking at the Pumas with the 45% discount but had already set my heart on the Nikes. I'll get them from Nike because the returns policy is great (as you've experienced).

Nice one.

Yep true to size on the vaporfly mate, enjoy

Shit!! Forgot about that, the birthday code malarkey is a no go on the supershoes
Thought I'd got away with it on the Ekidens because they were the only ones that weren't discounted or showing as excluded but no luck. It can be applied to the Tempos but if I'm paying 150€ for them, I'd rather pay a bit extra for the Vapors.
Ah well, I'm in no rush so will hang fire.
Really enjoying the Invincibles after being a bit unsure to start with but want something with a bit of spring for this year's marathon.

Just buy the ekidens, its not like you run a marathon everyday, tell the mrs to cut back on her spending
